Well, to be fair, last year was it's biggest up until now (I think it has been up yoy each year, not that great considering sales haven't been good but it's something)

It's yet to be seen if this drop is because of shortages or demand level is just in the 20k's

2016 & 2017 were virtually tied, 2016 was ahead by 8k.

It still has minor shortages but i cant imagine them being to such a extent that the weekly baseline would be massively different.

I personally think PS4 will do about 2 million this year in Japan, Monster Hunter gave it a great Q1 but i cant imagine Q2-Q4 being significantly different than 2016 or 2017.

That is my guess too. Anyway, thanks for the clarification.

My point was that, considering how ps4 sales have been in japan, staying flat would be ok, specially with a product with wide appeal on the market as the switch.

Pretty nice legs. And body... Ahem.

Attack On Titan Two doing okay. If it didn't do too hot here it's barely gonna move consoles anywhere else although I did buy it. Fantastic game BTW!

55K for Switch seems fine imo. After hearing a few people basically saying that these who think Switch will get some sort of boost of kirby are in dreamland. Lol.

Great week all round though.

It's as if you live in an alternate reality.

Well that's rude!

PS4 is still actually sold out in japan.

Isn’t odd that when the PS4 is sold out the numbers got lower? I thought Sony is better with supply chain than Nintendo.

I don’t recall this happening with switch. There’s a clear baseline either 30K flat for weeks or 40K. No fluctuations in numbers.

ps4 sales in japan really caught sony by surprise. which is understandable, since its selling like 2x-3x what it usually does.

So it is not a fake supply problem like Switch when many people claimed last year?

These numbers are mediocre aside from Kirby ...

PS4 goes back to goes back to it's pre-MHW release performance and despite Switch's strong software sales so far, the hardware numbers aren't seeing the same improvement which pretty much sets an expectation as to how the vast majority of Nintendo's lineup will perform for this year ...

Overall, it looks grim for the dedicated hardware gaming industry in Japan even with the recent arrival of new hardware ... (It's just decline in just about everywhere we look!)

This is amazing when there is actually no new "Handheld" on the market. 2 Home consoles killing it in Japan (with one being able to play on the go)

But just imagine, this is happening without Pokemon, Animal Crossing and a new Monster Hunter on the Switch.

Then now imagine THOSE games releasing on the Switch..... Oh BOY!

Last year for many weeks, the Switch did get between 20k - 30k.

If the PS4 with stock issues stay within 20k - 30k then that is good.
