Software charts anywhere?
My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

The post i quoted from you was mocking a user for saying MK8 was wasted on Wii U. I provided sales of past entries to show how it was in fact wasted on Wii U. Everything you have said since is irrelevant. |
No. Something not reaching it's maximum potential is not "a waste". Please try harder to justify an 8 million dollar game with a budget probably significantly lower than most triple A games being a "waste". Not in this thread, though. This has gone on long enough.
Not sure why people are calling doom on the Switch because it lost February in North America haha. But i guess that is just normal behavior around here. Switch didn't have any big releases and is still in its first year. MHW had just come out and xbox i guess had good deals going too. Also xbox does sell well in NA, it sells almost as well as PS4 so its not like it is some really weak system in NA, it just sells poorly everywhere else. The Switch sold very well for its first February. As someone already posted it was the second best first February of any system, only behind the Wii. If anything those sales show strong momentum for the Switch, not losing momentum like silly people on here claim. If anything it would be a surprise if the Switch had won the month.
Slownenberg said: You bias is showing glaringly! So you just don't want Switch ports to do well, whereas you are fine with games on other systems getting ported from the previous gen to current gen. And did you really just try to argue the business logic of releasing Mario Kart on the Switch??? hahaha. Let me give you a little insight into business decisions. Business decisions are made to make money. Mario Kart being released on a 13 million sold system that got cut off early to release a new system means that it didn't come anywhere near maximizing the profit potential for Nintendo. Hence, business logic dictates they can quickly port if to their new system and many many more people can play it than played the original. The business logic behind this is the exact same as every port thats ever been done: reach a larger audience for a game that's already been made in order to make more money off that game.
I think it's very funny how you care about business logic behind business decisions until the subject is Switch ports.

My bias is showing? Hellooooooooooooooo. This is ALA. I am sure if you asked someone three months ago what side of the community I was on ... they would say I was a Nintendo fan.
The hypocrisy you try to point out is baffling. My point is that CONSOLE HOLDERS should not just port games to try to make their lineup seem better. That includes Sony, with Uncharted Collection and The Last Of Us. That includes Microsoft with ... well I don't have an example for them, but you get my point. It has nothing to do with Nintendo in particular, they are just the current example right now.
"And did you really just try to argue the business logic of releasing Mario Kart on the Switch???"
No ... I was LITERALLY doing the opposite, and you should know this because you tried to sarcastically respond to my last line, in which I state : "I think it's very funny how people don't care about the logic behind business decisions until the subject is Switch ports, by the way. " The point of this comment wasn't that I'm arguing business decisions, the point is people don't care about how logical and profitable a business decision is unless it pertains to Switch ports. People usually act like normal consumers by retaliating against bad business decisions like any normal consumer should. But suddenly when it comes to ports literally meant to distract you from how barren a period of months is ... everyone defends it based on the logic of sales. So we can be consumers and critique bad ideas even if they're profitable .. UNTIL Switch ports are talked about .
Wow, your reply is hilariously bad and you didn't spend even a second trying to interpret that comment correctly. Next time you reply to a comment that you don't agree with, take a breather, calm down, and think logically about what is being said.
It speaks volumes that someone asking me to elaborate on an opinion I have ends with a thread of people trying to debate me vigorously just because I have a different opinion. This thread isn't about Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and I haven't done a great offense. Leave the discussion be, seriously.

Agreed, these numbers put things in perspective. Looks like the switch will outsell the X1 by a bit.

Why is GTAV OK but not Mario Kart 8?

xbox was 499$, i don't think switch will out sell xbox in the US.
I guess the thing I find odd is that the first February for the likes of the Xbox 1, PS4, Wii, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U, did not have 11 months worth of software behind it, Switch on the other hand has Zelda, Mario, Mario Kart, Splatoon and other high attached rate games, it should have blown the others and the record out of the water.

exactly why i see switch losing momentum. people don't realize third party games wont really sell switch consoles, they already have a established audience.
