It sold well but much less than it should have, the fact that its updated port is going to outsell the original in less than a year is proof of that.

I mean if it is a port, can't we just say that Mario Kart 8 sold nearly 16 million copies?  I think you are both wrong. I don't think it was a waste and I think its par for the course sales wise when combined. 

Sure you can combine them and that supports my argument that the game was held back by being on poor selling hardware.

The original release did 8 million but the port will go on to sell more than double that on its own.

Well if these numbers are true, then pretty amazing numbers for PS4, even though somewhere it was stated it actually reflects a downward% YOY for it .Still, pretty amazing numbers for a console in its 4th year and at its price point. Switch numbers actually aren't bad it's just that the other consoles performed so well! Obviously the Xbox1 price cut helped. For those discrediting the Amazon numbers, it may be a bit presumptuous writing them off as inaccurate just yet. I believe more than 1 poster pointed out the PS4 was sold out for large parts of the month on there. So i guess large amounts of consumers bought theirs elsewhere. It is what it is. Very impressive for a console that is surely nearing its saturation point in the U.S.

In my opinion the N64 was not just the best console of the 5th gen but, to this day the best console ever created!

With 2015 having 8 weeks and 2018 having 9 weeks. And, of course, the PS4 being $400 vs the Switch’s $300.

No reason to be a console warrior about it, Switch is doing very good and similar to PS4/XBO in a similar time frame.

Yeah, nothing console warrior-y about that. The console warrior like people are those that ignore the factors around why something is selling the way it is and how things change over time in order to proclaim something amazing or terrible. There's been a lot of that in this thread actually.

With Lawlight's track record you cant blame me for thinking he was trying to discredit the fact that Switch is doing better than PS4 in the same time frame.

ps4 had shortages in February it's second year. rying pointed this out to me on the bet we had about ps4 vs switch the first 3  months of sales for this year, ps4 does around 400k almost every February. plus as someone pointed out switch had a extra week.

He was trying to discredit your post which seemed to be suggesting Switch 2018 NPD was beating PS4 2015 NPD, which with additional information was discredited.
