can you say white pride? i find white pride kind of funny. you can see yoru proud to be italian or german or w/e but white pride sounds wrong.

Sorry but your not entirely right on that one... a german politician stated he was proud of beeing german about a year ago and he got a lot of crap for it and a lot of people thought he should apologize... he then changed the comment...

I think thats bulls**t though... I am proud of my german heritage... we have had some of the best writers, composers, philosophers scientists and inventors the world has ever seen... plus we make the best beer... just cause the Nazis fu**ed up doesn´t mean we didn´t do good stuff...

I am just as proud of my american heritage and don´t feel the need to apologize to black poeple or native americans, I never wronged them so there is nothing I could apologize for...

I assume you are referring to the US. The history of our country is why. Basically the Caucasian majority has discriminated against minorities of other ethnicities at certain points in our country's past. This has lead to a situation where we cannot have an honest discussion on race because its such a touchy subject. Anytime a person of Caucasian descent says "White Power" images of the KKK and Skin Heads come to mind whether that was their intent or not.

One example of a touchy subject : the confederate flag.

Personally, and I hate to say it, I think it is apart of us southern peoples history, but I can see how it could offend.... It represents a past generation, a whole generation that fought and died, something we should remember, not forget.  The reason it is so offensive is because, after the war, the flag was bastardized by the union.  The victor writes history after all.

Yeah the confederate flag can mean a lot of things for different people, making it a problematic issue... if you are black you might see it as a pro slavery flag... but fact is most people who fought and died under that flag were not slave owners or even pro slavery... for them it the flag represented freedom and liberty from a goverment that wasn´t interested in their needs... when most states joined the union they had no idea that they couldn´t ever get out of it anymore...

I find it funny how black people can talk so much shit about white people and not be considered racist, but once a white person uses that N word, all hell breaks lose and that guy (or girl) is considered to be racist.

Actually, they legally should've been able to get it out of it.

People should eather stop useing the N-word all together or make it free for everyone... and if you are black you should not call white people cracker or honkey... I don´t think any of those words are offencive butthen again I´m white and from a young gerneration...

Black poeple beeing all defencive on the N-word only creates the stereotype of the paranoid black guy who blames "the man" for everything that goes wrong in his life...

Its not a good word... but its only a word... people like MLK actually did something about injustice, thats why he is respected by people of all colors... just complaining about the white devil will get nobody nowhere and just cause more hate...

Because, people are "sensitive" twards the issue, and I could see how it could be considered racist, but, if people were educated fully about it, they wouldn't be as offended.

Did you know some blacks actually fought with the confederacy?

In a sense, the union only liberated the slaves so they could face 100 years of  a fake freedom.  Both sides were sorta pro-slave, in their own ways.

I know... thats one major reason why they were so pissed of... and I do feel sympathy for those who wanted to be independent but I have to go with Lincoln on that one "A house divided against itself cannot stand." With the nation growing so fast at that point a war would have become inevitable and it was a good thing he decided to fight before things got even more complicated... though it is sad so many people had to lose their lives fighting for freedom on both sides...

for some reason I get extremelly passionate about this issue, maybe because no idiot in the white house has taken this issue head-on?
