It's a byproduct of segregation. Not that long ago all of the traditional mainstream media and organizations had a white only policy. Organizations like the UNCF and NAACP sprang up as result.
Race means nothing.
Racism is ignorant. My mom (darker skinned but caucasian) was called the N word when she was young because she lived in the boonies of Maine and no one had ever seen a black person before. And yet there were still racists. Seems so stupid doesn't it?

Those things made sense back then. Nowadays...I don't understand why they exist. I kinda wish things like affirmative action and all that crap would just go away.
Then again, I don't really know what I'm talking about. I just think it's acknowledging race, like reverse racism.
