For all the people saying ps4 didn't win even with monster hunter world. What was the best selling monster hunter game in north America? Maybe monster hunter isnt a system seller like it is in japan

The PS4 seems to be getting closer to saturation in the US as it's unable to beat the Switch despite two large (albeit multiplat with the XBO) releases. Tells us that an substantial amount of the people that want PS4s already have them. I'm not very surprised though, I think I wrote in an earlier NPD thread that the status quo has certainly shifted from the XBO occasionally beating the PS4 for #1, to now the PS4 occasionally beating the Switch for #1, and that does indeed appear to be the case.

The 3DS though. Ugh. I predicted that it would crash quickly in 2018, dammit!

@ Bolded: I would say that is almost absolutely the case, Monster Hunter in general is much more huge in Japan, but that doesn't change the fact that it is still meant to be a high profile release. It's Capcom's attempt at making the game become bigger worldwide, after all.

In my opinion the N64 was not just the best console of the 5th gen but, to this day the best console ever created!

Very tiring argument considering the PS4 had its best year ever last year. It being 4 or 5 years old doesn't affect its sales in a negative way. The first year of a console is almost never the best year anyway. Why people keep using the age excuse is beyond me. 

And Sony isn't the only company that can use price cuts to boost sales lol. 

while its tiring or not ps4 selling well at 299$ in it's 5th year is impressive.

Skyrim and Doom in the top 10 for Switch in January is a great thing to see, hope both continue to keep selling and have good legs.

I want to see Bethesda's early support for the system pay off for them since not a lot of other publishers tried anything on the Switch so far.

we have no idea yet, because hardware being up 119% includes all hardware, super nes, and 3ds as well, plus 1 extra week.
