Political/economic identification?

Socialist (Marxist variety) 1 2.38%

Socialist (non-Marxist variety) 4 9.52%

Social Democrat 20 47.62%

Libertarian/Anarcho-Capitalist 2 4.76%

Conservative 10 23.81%

Fascist 1 2.38%

Other 4 9.52%

Total:42

So, I am going to do a poll here, to try to gauge the political self-identification of the users here. Obviously there are difficulties with a poll as there are only so many options that can be included, so clarifications can be made by posting.

As you guys may know, I am a socialist. More specifically a socialist of the anarchist variety, and anarchist communist if you really want to get into the technicalities. This is but only one sect of socialism, however the end goals are generally the same, with the main disagreements lying in how to achieve the end result.

In any case, I want to see how this result turns out.

I thought this was going to be one of those threads where you answer some questions and they put a red dot on a graph to pin what kind of person you are politically

I really don't know but i guess i'll say Democrat

I wanted to avoid that, because I'm more curious in how people identify themselves rather than the results they get from a test.

I hate political identifications - does that count as an ideology?

Bet with PeH:

I win if Arms sells over 700 000 units worldwide by the end of 2017.

Bet with WagnerPaiva:

I win if Emmanuel Macron wins the french presidential election May 7th 2017.

No. In any case, why is that so? You're generally not going to make any progress on your own.

I'm pretty much of the opinion that it's beneficial for society as a whole to help the homeless/destitute/sick/etc instead of leaving them to die on the streets or rot in prison. I believe that makes me a Social Democrat.

I'd say I'm conservative leaning more than anything, dont categorize myself for either R or D party though.

Well I don't know what i would say i am.

Every survey I take puts me center-right. I believe capitalism is the best form of economics. All I want the government to do is to regulate it so unfair practices and bad monopolies do not form. I also would like it if the government makes it easier for small companies to enter the fray.

I am also a protectionist in terms of world trade. So unfair trade deals with other countries are a big no-no. I am from the rust belt. I see what unrestricted free trade has done to jobs.

In social issues I tend to be libertarian. As long as you do not infringe on the rights of others then you can do mostly anything you want.

Do Not Click here or else I will call on the eye of shinning justice on you.

Got no idea based on that list tbh.

I'm a mixed bag who believes in most of the basics of countries like Sweden, though not 100%. Pro liberty, for limited militarism, high personal freedom, but also robust public health/education programs, and a graded tax scale, ala 1950s Eisenhower era.

Sadly the USA is hopelessly corrupt at this point beyond any hope of salvation, it's completely captured by a fundamentally fascist corporate elite, regulation is a joke where the agencies are staffed with a revolving door of lobbyists and cronies from the very industries they are supposed to be overseeing, and legalized bribery ala PAC/SuperPAC/Citizens United means individuals mean less than nothing to politicians other than lip service, they march to the beat of their masters, a few hundred elites who get what they want no matter R or D elected.

Super AI will hopefully come sooner rather than later, and wipe humanity permanently from any form of governmental power, because damn, humans suck at not becoming corrupt and evil, over and over, for countless millennia now.
