Forums - Sony Discussion - PS4/XBO/NS - 2017 vs. 2018: Final Results!!!

Alright, now we're in September. This is where things get interesting. Especially with Spider-Man numbers coming in next week for the PS4!

September 8th numbers have just been added. This was Spider-Man week for the PS4, and I have to say, I’m not impressed by the hardware numbers. At all. I was expecting much better. I know there’s likely a good chance this is undertracked, but 250k was the minimum I was expecting.

I'm expecting it to get upped, but not enough to reach last year's 300k, meaning it will continue to loose over last year's sales - probably even more than before in the coming weeks.

Btw, you forgot to bolden the latest week in the totals and yearly change columns

I know. I was updating over the phone and every time I tried to scroll down to click submit, it kicks back up to the charts. So I opted to wait until I reach my laptop, then I forgot about it.

September 15th numbers have been added. All three are essentially flat or just slightly down from last week.

Yeah..  Im afraid things will continue to be boring until October.

Week 38/Sept. 22nd numbers have been posted.

It seems like even though Spider-Man didn't cause a huge hardware boost on the week it was released, it did manage to raise the PS4 baseline by about 30k weekly. And with FIFA numbers hitting with the next update, that baseline should rise again. And seeing as how for there, it'll be October, which means COD, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, and RDR2, the PS4 should start to seriously heat up.

The Switch saw an increase this week while the Xbox One saw a decrease. I think both should be up next week with a subtle FIFA boost as well. The Xbox One should also increase noticeably in October with the 3rd party games I just mentioned. The Switch should see an increase in October thanks mostly to Super Mario Party and the buildup towards the holidays (Pokemon and Smash Bros.).

Switch also gets the Fortnite bundle on October 5th and the Smash bundle in November which should boost the numbers.

I was aware of the Smash bundle, but I completely forgot about the Fortnite bundle.

I think it's more like VGC has distributed the sales over the whole month rather than a spike

Shipment numbers at the end of the month will become pretty interesting to see how well the tracking is.

September 29th numbers have been posted.
And this week, all three systems are down Week over Week from last year.
