Not that impressive of a prediction when Media Create told us that 2 weeks ago.

will they make up any ground come the Black Friday sales?

They might.
From these latest numbers to the week ending September 1st. They're expected to just keep falling further behind, especially at the last week of July due to Dragon Quest XI releasing at that time last year. But once the week ending September 8th rolls around (the week when Spider-Man releases) is when they should start to gain a little ground. It should be up that week and the week after that. Then the next two weeks are questionable. FIFA usually comes out at the end of September, but with FIFA 19 being the series' 6th entry onto the PlayStation 4, I don't think the sales effect will be quite as big as it has been in the past. I could be wrong since this year was the World Cup, but we'll just have to wait and see on that one.
October should be up dramatically because of all the titles releasing that month. (Battlefield V, Black Ops IIII, and Red Dead Redemption 2) Compared to last year, which only had Gran Turismo Sport, a series that is nowhere near as big as it used to be. So, October is the biggest opportunity the system will have to make up any ground come November. However, I think that's when the gap will just widen again, since Call of Duty, which is usually a November title, was pushed forward to October and the only huge system selling game that is scheduled to release in November (that I'm aware of) is a Nintendo Switch exclusive.
Long story short, it could make up some ground come Black Friday, by I think its window to do so is short and its chances are slim.

PS4 reaching that -1 mil mark and nice to see Xbone doing better. I'm interested in the switch and that golden 20 mil. Let's see how close they get and if they cross it
Just a guy who doesn't want to be bored. Also
June 14th/Week 28 numbers have been added, and it brings a change of pace.
The Switch is on top and the PS4 is behind.
Also, the PS4 is now down YoY by over 1 million.
The Xbox One is now up YoY by over 400k, while the Switch is up YoY by over 1.1 million.

I'm really pleased with the X1 numbers being up YoY. I think MS has worked really hard to turn the ship around and add value to their proposition. And for that I think they deserve a second chance.
July 21st/Week 29 numbers have been added.
NOW the PS4 is officially down YoY by over 1 million units. And with Dragon Quest XI's release coming up on Week 30, that gap is only going to get much, much wider.
The Nintendo Switch is down this week, YoY, due to week 29 of last year being the release of Splatoon 2, boosting (at the time) supply constrained hardware exponentially, especially in Japan. However, hardware sales dipped the next 2 weeks, and if hardware sales continue to maintain at the 200k level, it should make up the ground in no time and continue to add to its lead.
Xbox One just continues to cruise and build its YoY lead.
