The 360's DLC @ $30 a pop will only add like an extra 10 hours to GTA 4. GTA 4 on its own reportedly takes over 100 hours to complete. I guess GTA 4 is like the next Oblivion with its extra chapters DLC.
It would not surprise me if a Game of the Year edition of GTA 4 is released next year on both consoles that contains all the additional DLC in it.

I think the ps3 bundle will do extremly well. There are loads of Sony fans that have yet to get a ps3 and have been holding out untill this game. It is yet to be seen if these people will be swayed by the cheaper prices of the 360 but i got a feeling alot of them will.

I think calling the 360 version the complete version is a bit misleading.
I don't think any additional dlc will make it complete. Only if the 360 version shipped with chunks of the city missing and then dlc fixed it would that apply.

If the 360 sells around about 50 million consoles in its lifetime it would be an overwhelming success. If 360 sells around about 50 million consoles it would be a success, despite the PS3 selling over 80 million consoles.
360's success should not be measured solely against the PS3.

BTW I set 50 million  consoles as the best number for the 360 to reach that would mean doubling the original XBox console figures and the 360 will be on the market I assume for two extra years and selling at a better rate than its predecessor. Attractive 360 console + game(s) Bundles will with out a shadow of a doubt attract more people to the 360.

The reality is more consoles = more software sales from a macro perspective. One only has to look at multi-platform sales to see this. Very few ps3 versions sell more then the 360 counterparts. And I think this will be reflected in the software sales. Now don't go on about the ps3 will have a better attachment ratio BS as its BS. The more people that own a console the lower the attachment ratio.

I think all the unofficial 360 bundles plus the larger install base will easily counter the ps3 official bundle at-least in the short term. If the official ps3 bundle lasts for a long time like motorstorm then it might be a different story but that remains to be seen.

In regards to the hardware increase I believe the ps3 will see a higher percentage increase but a lower increase in regards to actual hardware shifted, in NA. The situation in Europe will probably be the opposite.

 So I believe the 360 will sell more software. But both will do extremely well.

You'd be correct on your second point if the Wii and the PS3 where the same price , despite the PS3 being better value for money it doesn't stop it being expensive . To put it simply Organic food is probably better value for money than chemicaly grown produce however it's high price point means it'll still get outsold by chemicaly grown food because most people don't have the money to pay thatm much.

 

You can measure price objectively, but you cannot measure value objectively. Clearly, more people see the Wii as good value than people see the PS3 as good value. No PS3 price drop or game release has slowed Wii sales, so it's obvious no people that own, or wish to own, a Wii are being swayed by price. From a gaming perspective, they just see the Wii as better value than a PS3.

 

I said an "atempt" to measure value objectivley , I just listed what the console was capable of and since it could more usefull things than the Wii , it would be more objective to say the PS3 was better vale for money than the Wii.

I woudln't expect a PS3 price drop or game to affect the Wii , I woudln't even expect GTA IV to impact the Wii too much(for obvious reasons). But equaly a Wii price drop or software release wouldn't damage PS3 sales.

the consumer sees Wii as better value ? are you basing this purely on hardware sales or have you dome some kinda entensive market research to proove this or what ?. Like I said the PS3 is better value for money but it looses on it's high price point.

I think what gets starcraft in trouble is his huge bias. You could be a MS fan, and say 100 things about the 360 that are better then the PS3, and be right. Sratcraft will take any talking point (even the ones that are areas where the PS3 clearly wins), and turn them into features where the 360 is better (or the same).
