Thanks. Dragon Quest was highly anticipated and sold good. So that was predicitve. Zelda - funny enough - ranked eight on both lists, but in sales it beats Nier Automata and Resident Evil 7 (which by the way was twice in the anticipated list with different writing - together it would lead the list). Especially Resident Evil was much higher anticipated than it sold in the end. This confirms my hunch, that in the most anticipated games list more 'core gamers' vote that follow strongly gaming news, while games itself are bought also by other people. Hmm, looking at the list, anticipated was the WiiU-version of zelda, in sales was Switch-version on eight. But it makes sense, Nintendo kept the wraps on NX and we didn't know which games it would get besides rumours. Which is a factor. With that in mind, when was Ultra Sun announced? Probably the first in sales which was known at the time of the votes for most wanted games is Dragon Quest 3DS, followed by Monster Hunter and Dragon Quest PS4. |

Seems that you right about your teory for the most wanted, pokémon wasn't much antecipated because haven't a new engine/generation, but was the best selling game anyway, because it's pokémon.
Interesting that japonese never give up of antecipated FF VII and Kingdom Heart III (I don't jugde them, I want play these game too)
