Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Kirby: Star Allies has received visual upgrades compared to the previous trailers

Nintendo are one of the few companies whose games get upgraded rather than downgraded leading up to release.

Regarding a possible resolution change, we have seen this in several Switch games so far, such as Splatoon 2 and Mario Odyssey, which were lower resolution in pre-launch demos but got a boost by the time they released. For a relatively simple game like Kirby, 1080p docked and 720p portable should be achievable.

Nice upgrade but I'd rather have a true 2d kirby. 2.5d feels slow.

I 100% agree. I was sad, even though I loved Return to Dreamland, to see that one of their (many) experimented styles before they reached the finished product, was a hand-drawn looking, fully 2D style, as I really would have loved that. Hopefully they'll do that in the future.

Having said that, it is nice to see devs really, actively trying to polish up the graphics as much as they can. Games that basically look like Wii U games would be pretty old, pretty quick.
