Forums - Nintendo - Which is the Greatest Paper/RPG Mario?

I, the humble outcast, will humbly declare that I like Super Paper Mario. I'm playing it now and find it quite enjoyable. It satisfies the child in me ^_^

I honestly liked SPM, I found it really enjoyable^^; I think SMRPG and TTYD are about tied, maybe SMRPG a little higher up, and the original Paper mario is probably tied with SPM.

The Mother 3 Fan Translation is done! Everyone go get it right now! (Mother3.fobby.net)

SMRPG was great, but it has nothing on the Paper Mario series.

PM:TTYD >> PM >>>> SMRPG >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> SPM

like the guy above me said ... they are different categories ... but still i prefer Super Mario RPG to the others ... by a long margin ( haven't played Super paper mario though ) it was ... and still is one of the best games i've played

My mind has changed. My strength has not.    Kamahl, Fist of Krosa

I enjoyed both the Paper Mario Series (Thousand Year Door is my favorite) and the Mario & Luigi Series (The original, if only for Fawful). I have yet to play Legend of the Seven Stars, but from what the majority of the users have said so far, playing it is a no brainer.

Doopliss from Thousand Year Door is one of my favorite villains, Slick. And Vivian (also from TYD) is one of my favorite side characters. Maybe it's the big goofy hats.

super paper mario for wii is the best in the series

In my honest opinion, with Mario RPG, Paper Mario, and Paper Mario 2, you can't go wrong. I don't really feel the need to declare one decisively better than the other, and one doesn't really stand out as that much better than the next. I'd put MRPG, PM, and PM2 in the same class, Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga, behind them a bit, and SPM well behind them.

Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga is a lot of fun. Like someone said earlier, it is a hilarious game indeed and the Bros attacks are great. Still, as good as it was, there was more wandering around(exploring, I suppose) in Superstar Saga than in the others. PM and PM2 are somewhat straightforward in what to do next. As I recall, Mario RPG had more wandering around than PM and PM2, but nothing confusing or tedious.

Super Paper Mario is a fine game, but easily my least favorite of the role playing and "main" Mario games. The platforming is rather simple and not at all challenging. The "rpg" aspects is just accumulating points to advance your HP(maybe some other things I don't recall). The 2D/3D gameplay mechanics work great and leads to some really cool moments. On the downside, you might find yourself constantly switching between 2D and 3D to keep from missing anything. The best two things SPM has going for it are the graphics and humour. The game can be a bit chatty and long-winded, but there is one infamous scene in the game that had me laughing harder than any game ever has.

PM2,1,RPG then Super. Super is a good game. so is RPG, infact it is great, Id give it a 85 on my score list but the Paper RPGs are just the best.

P.S: I dont like RPGs.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

SMRPG, TTYD, Paper Mario 64, Super Paper Mario

I rented and beat SMRPG years ago and it was nothing special. A fun distraction but not something to tell others about.

I rented Super Paper Mario and loved it so much I bought TTYD and Paper Mario but I have yet to play those so as of now-
SPM (extremely good)
SMRPG (the best part was the graphics which didn't hold up)

The paper mario and paper mario:ttyd are very similar..The latter polished everything. It is better gameplay, story and mechanics.

The Wiis Super paper mario was a bit off-shoot, i never liked it so much as the previous versions.

The best mario Rpg is the snes version..

Although Never played the DS "mario Rpg´s

ok, I have put about 4 hours into PM:TTYD as of now, I love it. I have not laughed so much in a while.... the game has a great sense of humor.'

btw- I did play SMRPG, I have never played a paper mario until, I will definitly download SPM on the VC.
