Microsoft didn’t update ps4 version of Minecraft last I check and they can keep it off of ps5. Minecraft is bigger than all of Sony first party and can be used to push xbox one sales significantly in United States and U.K. If Microsoft controls those areas they win the console war in my book because those areas buy more software and subscriptions than any other area by good margin.

You're talking as if that is a plan (or has been hinted at). Since neither is the case, and Microsoft is a lot smarter than you're giving them credit for, it's pointless to debate.

Of course Microsoft is smart, that’s why they have been listening to me ever since Donny Dickhead left. I’ve been calling the shots on what to do behind the scenes. And that is why they are now profitable and  Phil Spencer has gotten a promotion.

I bought an Xbox One. I am extremely unhappy with my purchase. I used to hate it when people would say they bought a console and it's collecting dust, but.... its been in the basement unhooked for 2 years. The only game I wanted to play in that time was Ori, which I was able to play at work (lucky me, I know).

Honestly, I have no hope for it anymore. I'd trade it in if I thought I could get anything remotely decent out of it.

I don't revel in any of this. I wasted my money. My wife laughs at me about it and I have no rebuttal.

This is just me. Me only. If other people love theirs, think it's the best console of choice, hate everything else, whatever... good for them. Be happy. Personally, I feel like I messed up in buying one and won't be making the same mistake again anytime soon.

I did the same thing with PS4, I bought it because it was cheap and I wanted to play Horizon. Used it 2-3 times to play Horizon. Now, It just been collecting dust but it did come with Uncharted 4, I will eventually go back it.

There so much content coming out on both platform ... that it's really hard to justify owning since most of the third party is available on both. But, In your case I would say just sell it before it fully depreciates.

You can't say that Xbox doesn't have it's exclusive Halo Series (Halo 5, Halo Wars 2 & Halo MCC); Forza Series (Motorsports & Horizons); Gears series (Gears of war: Ultimate edition & Gears 4), Quantum Break, Ori and the blind forest & Cup head. When Xbox first came out the top exclusive included Sunset Overdrive, Titan Fall, Rare Replay & Dead Rising 3.

You are obviously not into Xbox backward compatible and game pass program. Which will appeal to other gamers.

I'm fine with others loving it, only giving my thoughts. I did like Halo, but RTS are the only games I insist on playing on PC because of the controls. Never liked any racing games (for those that do, I totally understand going XBOX). I don't need to rebuy Gears games or old Rare games. Couldn't care less about backwards compatibility as I've already played all those.

I did buy Titanfall but was ultimately disappointed with it. SO looked too similar to infamous, which I had just played, so I passed. I'm sure it's not bad though.

Again, I'm glad some people are happy, but I don't think other's feelings on it (and it isn't just mine) should be dismissed as fanboy rhetoric. I'm genuinely disappointed. I hope Microsoft understands that a lot of people ARE disappointed and does better, so that I'll want to buy their product again.

It's not like there a shortage of games on Xbox one, sure Sony has more exclusives but in the early days of PS4, it was all about 3rd party games. 421 games came out on Xbox one in 2017 according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Xbox_One_games

In order to improve their current exclusive content Microsoft would have to spend on time exclusives which only piss off the general public and in the end it's not economical for Microsoft.

Little has been said on what Microsoft has in store for us in 2018, but, I suspect the best exclusives might actually comes from indie titles.

Xbox one X is now home to the best consoles 3rd party games it even improves Xbox 360 games and I think they made a better job on showing why Xbox one X is good for people with only a 1080p TV. When you buy an Xbox one you buy in the Microsoft Eco system.... Exclusives, game pass & superior Back-compact(Sony does have PS now).

They have been promising to increase their 1st party output since the start of the gen.. so it isn't something that is new and they are having to cover up, it's their fault for a long time.

They made bad investment that din't pan out some that we know publicly (Fable Legends, Scalebound & Knoxville) and some that probably never took off behind close door.  Microsoft made an investment in Kinect 2.0 that must of included a bunch of games and most of them must of have been cancel after Phil Spencer took over. Aaron Greenberg and Phil Spencer have both mention that there are unannounced new IP and projects. They also hinted that they have expended their Coalition and 343 studios and working on multiple projects. These games weren't in the stage to be shown to the public yet at E3 2017.

This could simply be optimistic thinking from a Microsoft supporter but there is a X factor (so for the pun) and that's the Xbox One X. You don't invest in development and marketing costs of Xbox one X without having software support to follow.   The investment in New software would of came in mid 2015 to mid 2016. Development cycle for bigger games would be 3-5 years.... 2018-2020 window....

Microsoft needs to realize that they need more than just Halo and Forza to push console sales. PUBG isn't going to because it plays like sh*t in both the One and X, and it's also on PC so it isn't an exclusive. I see more reason to buy a Switch when Metroid Prime 4 launches, over the Xbox One and it's been out for 4 years....

1. But what does that have to do with the strength of their lineup?

2. I don't even understand how you can seriously make this argument. "Sure, the vast VAST majority of Xbox One gamers will be playing the worst version of most multiplatform games. But they're getting the best version...I promise."

1. Longevity and more games than the average consumer buy equals stronger lineup.

2. You don't know if the vast majority of original xbox one owners are playing the games worse than the original ps4 owners. When you take into count t.v., ISP, ect. Those can affect the game itself more than the console hardware. Especially since PS4 dominates countries in Europe where they can't afford a lot. PS4 owners can be playing games on 720p t.v. compare to an xbox one owner playing on 1080p t.v. All we know for a fact is the xbox one game has more potential than ps4 game with all the patches it recently received.  And as time goes by they will upgrade because we already know the xbox one x is doing well right now.

This must be the oddiest argument ever...

So since X1 is weaker than PS4, we have to assume that generally PS4 players are using worse internet, TVs, etc just to make their experience worse than X1?

And since when did Europe become poor? Also when a lot of X1 games are rendered in 720p what is the benefit of the 1080p TV for them?

How much money they have is irrelevant, obviously. It's never been enough for them to win a gen. It's like arguing about having more weaponry in a war, when the opponent beat you with ease.

Selling video game consoles doesn't determine success, but the games, subscriptions, ect does. For example, technically the ps3 overlap 360 in hardware sales. However, since the 360 controlled United States and U.K. they had a higher software attach ratio. If I remember correctly it was almost 2:1 in 360 favor regarding software attach ratio. United States and U.K are the most important regions by far. If you do well in those regions, you are set. Which is why even if xbox one doesn't sell well in other regions they will be okay.

Not you remember totally wrong. SW for both ps3 and x360 is quite similar with X360 managing higher due to earlier release and sure more concentration in US+UK.

Are you again just messing with everyone?

I'll rephrase, they have been saying they are upping their 1st party every year for the last 4y while at the same time saying they have plenty exclusives and also try short term solutions with buying exclusive rights for some key games.

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=9008994

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

Totally agree, but people tend to forget that last generation Microsoft didn't have many exclusive games either.

They put all their eggs in a 3-franchise basket after the 360's second-or-so birthday and most of the success they had was thanks to the Kinect marketing and hype (Kinect Adventures is the best-selling 360 game... by far).

People who bought a 360 did so to play third parties: CoD, GTA, and all the mainstream titles, not exclusives.

It's not realistic then to expect either Microsoft investing tons of money on new IPs or exclusivity deals nor their core fanbase supporting new IPs or genres (just remember the sad flops that were ReCore, Quatum Brake and Sunset Overdrive).

Even when accounting for display differences, the Xbox One often offers less fidelity than the Playstation 4 in most multiplats.

Sony deserves their win for this generation, they offered superior hardware for a lower price and didn't push silly shenanigans like always-online DRM.

It's funny the justification folks come up with to sleep better at night. Article's on point.. maybe apologists should be mad instead of complacent so that MS can start delivering on their broken promises. Also, you just released "the most powerful console", but what's the point of the "most powerful console" when you got 6 and 7th gen graphics only to showcase that power? And worse yet, your best pitch is "best place to play multiplats"? Just blows my mind that some of you who purchased xboxs this gen aren't pitch forking MS.

Man.. I hate it when your girl has to leave my place to come back to you..
