I thought GT4 wasn't as good as GT3. Felt very similar but it was still a great game.. Therefore, I didn't play it as much, so most of my memories and anecdotes in this post will revolve around GT3. I did love the license mode. Hope they make em just as tough.
At its base, GT has a great engine. I doubt it will have changed much, nor I doubt it ever will. GT3 had it perfect.
Instead, the innovation must, like Brawl(and GT4), come from the breadth of the new content and not the depth.
Ah, I still remember doing 200 laps on GT with the rubber-band trick, and coming back driving into the wall.
I just hope there is damage and vehicle changes on the cars. I hear they are planning to add that in with DLC, which was great news.
Another great racing game is Rallisport Challenge 2. That managed to do everything GT4 needed to do with its gameplay changes, with graphics that are still basically pretty good by any standards.
If you missed out on that one, go check it out before GT5 comes out, it'll blow your mind.
Of course, GT5 again, offers up more in the way of customization, which is what Gran Turismo is all about. I love the way the individual cars handle. In GT3, I did the trick where you can get the car to stand up and float, and reach 2 or 3 thousand mph(or is it kph that game uses?).
Anyway, imo, if you love Gran Turismo, and if you particularly love the sparse rally car sections of the game, go play Rallisport Challenge 2. That is one of the best racing games ever made, and it's totally what Gran Turismo 5 should be in terms of gameplay.
I can say with confidence, that waiting on Gran Turismo 5 when you've never played RSC2 is like waiting on MGS4 when you've never played MGS3. It's required reading. Check it out.
I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.
NO NO, NO NO NO.
