Wow.....so he's counting GeOW 2 as it's own series, not a sequel to GeOW which was already out on the 360?

are in genres not developed like the shooter genre yet


GoW2 comes in a genre with Halo, CoD4, GoW, Bioshock and The Orange Box on the 360


those other games on the other hand are the top franchises of THREE other genres
the Halo 3's of tactical/adventure games, of rpgs and of racing games


their turn this generation has yet to come


people in the store will see the biggest name RPG, the biggest name Racing game,
the biggest tactical/aventure game (MGS is it's own genre almost),
and also the biggest fighting game that is not multi-platform, Tekken 6,
on the PS3 shelf somewhere next year

so each of those three games, not counting Tekken,
shaken ups a genre.. where a game like GoW2 is not more then a great shooter like we have seen many this generation

One of the issues to consider is the aggressiveness with which the EU and Watchdog went after Microsoft for their reliability issues. Many Europeans prefer products of a high quality level -- you'll notice that they're willing to pay more money to get something better quality, whereas Americans love to buy cheap shit all of the time. Americans want to cheapest computer, the cheapest shoes, the walmart deal, etc.

There is a cultural difference and this is one of the reasons Sony has such a strong grasp on Europe: they respect quality and Sony tends to release good quality product. The PS2 is the obvious exception, but its quality issues were not even close to on the same level as the 360.

It's worth noting that, by June, Nintendo will likely have passed Microsoft's platform in every single major region, and by the end of the year it will have a huge installed-base lead of more than 10 million units.  The PS3 is currently outselling the 360 in every region.  Right now, the 360 is rapidly working its way toward last place.

Its simple:

 1) with Halo 3, GoW, COD4, etc. 360 has very likely gained the majority of shooter players its going to (in terms of big spikes) - therefore it is unlikely that GoW2 (while it will be a massive seller) will drive a massive boost is console sales.  Logic says that there probably aren't many shooter fans who have so far turned up their noses at Halo 3, GoW itself, COD4, etc who will suddenly rush out and buy a 360 due to GoW2.  However just as with Halo 3 it is very likely there are a fair number of gamers waiting for MGS 4 before buying a PS3 so logic says it will likely drive a large spike in console sales (just as Halo 3 did for 360).

 2) those gamers who want MGS and the next FF very likely are still waiting - although the clear increase in PS3 sales (ahead of 360 in Others weekly for ages now and more recently in US) does show many aren't waiting around - they're buying the console

 3) have you looked at sales of GT5:P?  A 'Prologue' that is selling better than many full games?  If that's ailing I wish I was ailing like that.

Of course, I can see from your comments you've decided what you believe and are unlikely to let common sense and available facts get in the way.

you can see it when you look at their genres and the comparable titles

where GoW2 is just a new offering in the already stunning shooter genre of this gen

Just in case you don't know the definition of relevant it doesn't mean PS3 exclusive.
