Hmm, I think reaching way back I might pick Ultima IV for NES. The game was a bit too old-school and difficult to figure out. I had no manuals which can really kill more complex retro experiences. Often with those old games, they'd be difficult to the point of being broken, but I would keep at it for an hour or two just to prove myself. Ultima, on the other hand, was just impenetrable.
Kinect Adventures would be the best recent example. I tripped through the various modes for a couple of hours when I got my Xbox 360 and once in a while I think about going back for the obstacle course or raft section, but it doesn't feel like there's much there. Cool soundtrack, though.
