And that also applies to Japan. Best year ever for ps4.

The PS4 is doing great for a home console there. But I disagree that Japan is still relevant for home consoles though. I think the culture is moving away from it and that it will die with it. That’s why Sony mostly makes games in the west, for the west. That’s why Japan was the last country to get the PS4. That’s why Nintendo doesn’t have a dedicated console anymore. And that’s why most Japanese devs are focusing on the west.

Ps4 has potential to sell 10m in Japan. That's extremely relevant. 50m-80m software sales at retail and millions more digital both full price and on sale. Then you have all that ps plus revenue.

Another factor is all the Japanese games ps4 gets that end up selling well in the west. Many of them exclusive and many console exclusive.

Don't get me wrong, Japan has declined but it's still very relevant to Sony. Yes you can argue they don't need it WW because they'd dominate regardless but no way would they want to lose their current sales in Japan.

Are you sure that 2017. will be biggest year for PS since PS2 days!?

Currently difference between PS4 2017. and PS4 2016. sales is only around 150k, last few weeks 2017. sales are lower compared to 2016. sales, it will be interesting to see if PS4 will be YOY at all at end of December beacuse for next 2 weeks PS4 last year sold 210k.

And definitely seems that Switch sales start cannibalizing PS4 sales in Japan, because PS4 start selling worse compared to last year on weekly basis.

I just told you why thwtsca ridiculous statement but I guess you'd prefer to ignore the facts just to suit yourself.

Last year q3 for ps4 was average. Q4 was amazing with ps4 slim, pro, price cut and FFXV.

This year q3 was good mainly thanks to dq11 but q4 is barren. That's why sales are as they are. But feel free to keep ignoring facts so you can pretend the switch is eating the ps4's sales.

I am not ignoring facts, but point is that few weeks now PS4 sales in Japan are identical and we are getting closer to Holiday season in Japan.

Also you didnt answer my question, are you sure that 2017. will be biggest year for PS since PS2 days!? Currently difference between PS4 2017. and PS4 2016. sales is only around 150k, last few weeks 2017. sales are lower compared to 2016. sales, it will be interesting to see if PS4 will be YOY at all at end of December beacuse for next 2 weeks PS4 last year sold 210k.

Japan numbers are shit

With statements like that do you expect people to take you seriously?

Well they are definatly not amazing, he wrote "Globally PS4 is doing amazing" and you wrote that applies to Japan also, and fact is that PS4 is far from doing amazing in Japan with this sales. After 11 months on market in Japan sold only 1.5m and its big question if will be YOY over last year.

So how long until the Switch overtakes the PS4 in Japan? I give it by May.

It's 167k up on MC.

It's 230k up on Famitsu.

Yes I believe it will have it's biggest ever year and the biggest year for a PlayStation console since the ps2 days.

And yes you're ignoring facts. You're pretending the reason ps4's Q4 is down to the switch.

When it's clearly because it lacks the ps4 pro launch, slim launch, price cut and FFXV which all came in Q4 last year.

It's still the same price so in what crazy world wouldn't it sell less? Not in this world anyway.

It's getting embarrassing now that you keep pushing this idea of yours.

Can you also say that handhelds are dying and irrelevant outside of Japan?

Don't need to spread your sentences.

167k i around 150k. Yes, you belive, but again its big question if PS4 this year will be YOY over last year, beacuse few weeks now PS4 sales are indetical and around 25k, and for next 2 weeks PS4 last year sold 210k. Like I wrote, I am not ignoring facts, but point is that last few weeks now PS4 sales in Japan are identical and we are getting closer to Holiday season in Japan, usualy when you closer to holiday season sales start to go up.

May is too early, PS4 sold 5.6m in Japan, but end of next year sound like safe bet even if it's possible that will be earlier.

I said the sales are relevant and very important for Sony. I also outlined why. You do whatvyiu do best though and ignore facts you don't want to see.

167k is also around 185k so why not use some made up higher number. Kets stuck with facts instead of made up numbers that suit your argument.

You're also still ignoring the fact ps4 had ps4 slim, price cut and pro last q4 with a major release in FFXV coming in November. That's why sales were higher. Not because of holidays.

Traditionally ps3/4 didn't get their holiday bumps until a bit into December. Not November.

Now I imagine you'll ignore these undeniable facts again so if you do I'm going to ignore anything else unrelated to these until you address this valid point.

You can't find from facts forever my friend:)

Yes, I can also say that because facts point to that. Look at the 3DS - in the US it sold about half of what any other Nintendo handheld did before it. In Europe, it sold less than any other handheld except the Vita. The Vita itself, well you know how that ended. Globally the 3DS probably won’t even reach the PSP numbers. And all is despite releasing 1 revision each year and the Pokemon fad prolonging the 3DS life. It also came out at a time where only 1 in 3 adult owned a smartphone, let alone the kids.

I think the Japanese devs would still be there but, as they are doing now, they’ll focus on the west.

If Sony cared as much for Japan as they did for the west, they would have set up a Japanese video game making studio a while back.
