Forums - Nintendo - Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Reviews - (83) Metacritic (83) Opencritic

And the first troll review is in. From some site I've never heard of called GameCrate. Some of his criticisms of the game might stand. I haven't played the game yet, so I don't know. He says that there is a lot of feature bloat like in XCX. But other criticisms are blatantly false, or pointless to anyone that has followed the game.

"I knew that XB2 wasn’t going to be RPG of the year as soon as I saw it in action. The graphics are disappointingly primitive, and look at two generations behind. Character’s movements are stiff, and environmental textures are bland and flat."

This is attacking the graphics capabilities of the system the game was released on, not the game itself. And, no this looks nothing like a PS2/Gamecube game.

"The voice acting is laughable. Most characters struggle to express even the slightest emotional affect. The corny script and lack of a Japanese voice option only make things worse."

But there is a Japanese voice option, in an update.

"It seems like you can dodge enemy attacks, but really you can’t. Dodging is calculated mathematically and attacks don’t actually have hit-boxes."

You mean a JRPG has an agility stat in the characters that it uses to calculate dodging? WHAAAAAT? HERESY!

"Comments for this thread are now closed."

Yep. You can't comment on the review.

Edit: The guy also complains about there being high level monsters in low level areas. You mean like every Xenoblade game? These monsters have always been easily avoidable.

Guess he's the one who brought the score down by a point?

I'm extremely uncomfortable with just how easily "too Japanese" or "more Japanese than the other" are being thrown around, as if to be Japanese is to carry a negative connotation, or as if the more specific criticisms people want to address are somehow intrinsic to Japanese culture. A lot of unknowingly racist statements are being thrown around as if it's acceptable. Replace the word "Japanese" with "black," and join me in my discomfort.

You're allowed to dislike tropes, mechanics and styles that are generally unique to a Japanese developed game. Don't try and turn this into a "racist" thing.

I think we should also check Gamerankings aggregates.

84 Meta 85 Open 83 GR

Not bad. Not bad at all! Another solid exclusive game for the Switch

What are you blabbing about? One has nothing to do with the other.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Been seeing comments on YT and elsewhere: It seems that 84-85 as a score means a game is shit now. Let's remember that when the next Sony/Xbox game get a similar score.

You should see some comments on this site about Xenoblade X. A game that has the same exact score (as of now) from both sites. It is silly, and welcome to the party.

Well, I am of the opinion that XC 2 looks and feels better than X, and thus should get a higher score.I wont say for certain simply because I havent played the game yet, but if it anything like the first XC, then I will like it more.

They are all very good games, but since it's not as "good as" Xenoblade 1, everything else is shit. Or better yet, Nintendo games in general are shit and we just don't know it.
