Forums - Nintendo - Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Reviews - (83) Metacritic (83) Opencritic

Only 85?  Looks like a no buy for me.  This game needed to be a 90 or higher to get my money...

Yeah screw that, I am going to play the HELL out of this game.  Even if it tops at 85, that is still a great score!

Good scores so far. It seems like Monolith need to work harder if they want to recapture the magic of the first XC, but XCX was still a great game. Anything comparably good is worth my time.

Heh, tbh, I think that XCX is the better game. XC is fantastic, and it has a way better plot, but in terms of gameplay, world-building, side-quests and everything aside of the main plot, XCX just eats XC alive. But, well, that's just my opinion. And not a very popular one.

One I share, and due to it's overly anime style I don't see that changing with this one. That said he'll,  I'll take another Xenoblade until we get our X2.

RPGgamer gave XC 2 its first perfect score.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

I dont know.I think that some reviewers are taking away points for silly reasons(my opinion of course), like the gamespot review seems to suggest. As long as Xenoblade is Xenoblade, and people that are not fond of japanese quirks are reviewing it, XC games will never reach that high again.

A concern of mine is cg magazine says there is a big sweeping area in Xenoblade 2 had frame dips that made playing in docked mode downright frustrating. He had to take the switch out and play it in handheld mode.

Well, this doesn't look groundbreaking or genre defining like Zelda tho.

So having some irrelevant internet buzzwords let's a game get away with the same faults other games don't? Not that a game being started on Wii U is a valid criticism to begin with. I guarantee no reviewer worth listening to is gonna use that reasoning atleast.

That didnt stop games like Mario, Persona 5, Horizon, Nier and many more from scoring more than 90 or really close to that. You dont need to have a groundbreaking game to be a masterpiece...

I get what you guys mean, but looks like I was right. My prediction was pretty spot on (84). It’s now at 85.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Unfortunely you were right, even if it wasnt because of the reason you listed.Reviewers like the one that did the review on gamespot will unfortunely bring the whole score down because he is not fond of japanese quirks.Oh well.

Exactly. I still don't get why a lot of reviewers are taking away points for being too japanese, and Persona 5, which is the most japanese a game can get, still had a lot of praise going. It's an awesome game so I won't complain, but I always felt that the Xeno franchise in general was always pretty underrated. Well, almost any Monolith game. And I'm pretty sure that the fact that a game like FFXV has a 80+score too, is because it tones down "japanese things". I mean, that game wasn't good to begin with.

From the previews on youtube of those playing it they have been nothing short of praise to the highest degree. I don't care about meta, I am buying this day one.

Good meta. Right were I expected it to be.

Cant wait to dig in to this beast tomorrow.
