You drank too much of Sony and MS Kool-Aid, the Wii "has better graphics" than any of the last gen consoles, so "has better graphics" than every single one of the last gen games you loved so much. So this argument of "terrible graphics" is just plain stupid.
So there's no "graphics don't matter", nobody said that, not even Nintendo. What people say is that it's not the one single most important component, like Sony and MS want you to believe. They do that because their console propose nothing new except graphics.

The problem is the only games that look really better than PS2 games are the big Nintendo titles. So it has "potential" for better graphics which is pretty useless. Besides the graphical power increase over the original XBOX is at best small. But this discussion is useless and has been done countless times here. I think nobody argues that the difference in power between Wii and 360/PS3 is much, much bigger than it was for example in the last generation between XBOX/PS2 and GC.

Yeah nothing. Besides great online capabilities that outclass the Wii (friend codes lol), media capabilities( like BluRay playback for the PS3, media streaming from your PC etc. pp. HD movie download for the 360), more power for gameplay aspects like better physics for example in Star Wars force unleashed, a Hard-disc for game demo downloads (of gigabyte size) etc. pp.

This is the most astonishing thing about Nintendo fanboys to me they seem to have a warped view of reality. I can concede that the Wii has revolutionized user input and that Nintendo is doing great things in bringing casual gamers to its console. But some/many Nintendo fanboys really seem to think that the only advantage of PS3/360 is graphics? Perhaps you should use one of them.

You know what I was thinking about? Can you guys believe that a Final Fantasy game (main series) is not coming out for the winning console of the generation? I think is the first time this has happened. This gen is just full of surprises everywhere! "This console is doomed!"; "Wait, no, it's not! Now this one is definitely doomed" "Wait, no it's not!"

Moreover, 40-50k for Wii in Japan i wouldn`t call impressive either. =] PSP has ONE Monster Hunter. PS3 will have much MORE BIG games - mln. sellers in Japan. =) Although I know it's plain useless to debate with you I'll try one more time: a) PS3 has seen the release of games that were in the top of PS2 selling list (Winning Eleven, Dynasty Warriors and Minna no Golf are good for 8 of the top 20 PS2 games) and it has done close to nothing for PS3. I didn't even talk about GT5P, because if we count that as a GT game, it will mean that 1/2 of the series in the top 20 PS2 have seen a release in Japan. The #1 on that list will come to DS.

 I seem to remember in the wake of those games the PS3 started outselling the Wii did it not? Thats the problem with the PS3, these releases arent regular enough. The PS2 got wave after wave of what we'd consider rubbish games that the japanese eat up. One of the problems is that the japanese have not taken to the PSN store as sony has come out and said, and the PSN store is obviously the best outlet for these cheap games because disc versions are more expensive.

Sony needs to find some small developers, fund their asses, and get them to release some serious party and casual games that they can throw out every 2 weeks or so.

 This is probably the smartest argument you have had in this whole thread, and i will whole heartedly agree with what you say on this. The PS3/360 are more than graphics, and truth is if  the PS3 was not so expensive i would have got one for launch. Out here we Europeans get so shafted when it comes to price of console/games etc... But at the same time too, you seem to be attacking just to defend your choice of console, which is just plain stupid, stick to the facts, this is not about fanboys or any of it.

Now i agree that there a  few nintendo enthusiasts  (what you call fanboy) who probably give a bad name to the nintendo fans, but you are definitely on the same lvl as them in which you give sony/MS fans (you choose) a bad name. Rather than just coming out and saying and showing some of the more ignorant people the potential of the PS3  you decide to be ignorant as well (referring to your first sentence), and start attacking. There is obviously a reason you are on this thread, and i will assume its to get your point across, about the console/s you have a strong passion for.

In this graph you can actually see that Sony outsold Wii a few weeks, it looks though that Sony enjoyed holiday level sales a little earlier than Wii, but once Wii got the Christmas spirit it blew PS3 completely out of the water.

The PS3 boost was caused by:

Price cut + white PS3 + Dualshock3 + Dynasty Warriors 6 + ProEvo 08

even with these 5 factors it only outsold the Wii for 3 weeks, with a combined difference of 40.000 units, something Wii has done in a single regular week for the past weeks.

Do you think my first sentence(*) is not true? Most Wii games that are not made by Nintendo share artwork etc. with a also released PS2 version (Simpsons, Force unleashed, all EA games ...) or are ported from a Gamecube version (Resident Evil, Zelda) so they do not use the additional capabilities of the Wii. So I will concede that there are exceptions to this rule but I think its pretty close to reality. I try to stay with the facts (with a little hyperbole here or there) and if I am wrong you can tell me and I think I will be capable of acknowledging it

but in regard to what you posted above it is true, and when i was talking about the graphics being enough, i was not talking about all the trashy 3rd party games, i was talking mostly about 1st party Nintendo games, should have made that more clear too. Do you think the 1st party games like mario, zelda and smash graphics are last gen or would you agree that they are good enough?

When it comes to third parties, i think everybody agrees they don't really put match effort in regards to graphics for Wii or match to gameplay may i add, well not yet anyway. You really couldn't use a third party game to defend the Wii right now. Thats the Wii biggest weakness.

The 20/60gb models in Japan/USA had the full BC (EE and GS(Graphic Synthesizer) chip. The 80gb released in the US A had the EE chip taken out, but the GS chip was left in to support the software PS2 emulation. The 40gb models have neither the EE nor the GS chip, which makes things even harder for Sony if they want software PS2 emulation(which is probably why there is none ATM on the 40gb models). The 80gb model was never released in Japan. There is only the 40gb models left since they discontinued the 20/60gb models in January. The MGS bundle in Japan will be with the "new" gunmetal gray colored 40gb PS3 and not a non-existant (in Japan anyways) 80gb bundle. (which is what it is in the USA, I believe)

With the exception of Zelda they definitely look better than most if not all last-gen games. Zelda looks nice but its a Gamecube game and therefore it is "last-gen". The problem is if you want to compare graphics last-gen and better are rather subjective adjectives. God of War2 looks awesome and is a last-gen game. I think Galaxy looks awesome, Zelda looks nice, In Smash the characters look great the background is a bit grainy (if they are static the destruction animations are great).
But yes these games look good. As a PC gamer I hate SD resolutions so this is a problem if you have a HD TV. Otherwise games with cartoon-like graphic style look great on the Wii.

On the other hand the Wii really cannot compete with 360/PS3 when a game is in a realistic setting. Uncharted, Gears etc. provide almost movie like graphics that the Wii cannot match. Its definitely not "good enough" in this category. Or take Gran Turismo, a game that lives through its photorealistic graphics which would also not be possible on the Wii.

Offtopic: I am not a Sony fanboy (when the 360 is cheap enough I will get one for Halo3 and possibly Mass Effects and Fable2). I just like good graphics (and as a PC gamer the low resolution of the PS2 was probably my biggest turn-off) and have never seen a mini-game I liked.
