In this graph you can actually see that Sony outsold Wii a few weeks, it looks though that Sony enjoyed holiday level sales a little earlier than Wii, but once Wii got the Christmas spirit it blew PS3 completely out of the water.
The PS3 boost was caused by:
Price cut + white PS3 + Dualshock3 + Dynasty Warriors 6 + ProEvo 08
even with these 5 factors it only outsold the Wii for 3 weeks, with a combined difference of 40.000 units, something Wii has done in a single regular week for the past weeks.
