Japan has really retarded game-buying habits in general these days. Portables are too dominant. Maybe most gamers just feel "next-gen" is not worth the upgrade.

I think anyone who thinks GT5/FXIII won't dramatically boost the userbase are fooling themselves though.

Pure speculation. If it was so easy or cheap to do software emulation, why haven't they announced it? I'm not going to reargue that thread anyways, since thre are already a million pages on it.

The fact is that emulation doesn't exist now and it has not been announced in any way, shape or fashion by Sony.

People need to stop arguing that the PS3 is losing (and/or that the Wii is winning) mostly due to price. In the 4 home console generations since 1986, the cheapest console (Dreamcast/Gamecube, Nintendo 64, Genesis, Atari 7800) has never sold best. NEVER.

In my opinion, the PS3 will never beat the Wii in Japan.

You're getting to be a top Sony fanboy. I often point to your post when you inferred that the PSP in Japan, and the PS3 in Europe would eventually lead to Sony domination.

As a Nintendo fanboy, but most importantly a concerned VGChartz member, I think it is my duty to inform you that you might be letting your hopes interfere with your abilities at accurate predictions.

I said a Slim PS3 and a lower price would change things.  Please don't augment responses to fit your rebuttal.

I do believe it could change things, but I also believe that by the time the slim ever happens, if it happens, it will be a little late to beat the Wii in Japan.

Sorry, I thought the fact that you listed "price" first and three times...

...indicated that you thought the PS3's difficulties are mostly due to price. That type of argument was the subject of my post.

PS3 will never beat Wii in Japan, but it can do a hell of a lot better than it is right now if a slimline is out.

The first problem is programing for it. Cell is a very inefficient design. It puts to much load on the 1 and splits to the 7 others. one of the seven others is dedicated to os. This leaves programers with a problem they have to split up processes too much. Next price caused by blue ray. The root of all their problems is being money hungry and try to copy natural designs to build a computer. DNA code which natural cells use is not just information it is protein. So all this equals big headache for squaresoft.
