Yoshimitsu has been using a sword in Tekken for the duration of the series.

I know... but looking at the announcement video, it seems like Noctis swords can land a hit from longer distances. Seems more fitting for SC than Tekken.

By opening the floodgates, I was referring to non-fighting game characters. Akuma and Geese are from other fighting game franchises, so to have a non-fighting game character like Noctis, if that's going to be a thing going forward, we can expect just about anyone, similar to Smash.

Tekken 3 already had Gon though, so this isn't new for Tekken.
