Anyone with knowledge on this please help me understand what is going on here... I have DirecTV and AT&T. They are billed together, why are they being asked to sell one of these two?

This sounds less like an anti-trust issue and more like a backdoor way to somehow cripple a media outlet the president doesn't enjoy.

Well they said sell CNN or Direct TV, so it doesn't look like they are specifically targeting CNN. Government doesn't like monopolies, but the article says it shouldn't create one by theory, which still means it could, which is why they may not let it happen. They also don't necessarily like large product or service companies who have a direct means to advertising, which they would have with this deal. It's also possible that since CNN is hurting, which Trump seems to like, that if the deal is aloud to happen, CNN will have a larger parent company to bankroll them. It's also possible that other wireless companies own a lot of stock in CNN's parent company at the moment, and they don't want to use that stock to help prop up their competition, or lose money in the stock if AT&T screws things up after the sale. They probably don't want to have to sell the stock either because their competition owns those companies now. AT&T could use that to their advantage if they wanted.
