I didn't explain myself well enough , obviously all majorities aren't the same (I think you was just taking the word "majority" for it's pure meaning as opposed to trying to interprit what I was saying).

All the students 90% of the school's population ("School population" including teachers,supervisors and other staff) can vote in favour of the school canteen being closed down , despite the vast number of people desiring a closure of the canteen their majority vote isn't as effective as say 75% of the teaching and supervisory staff wanting the canteen to remain open.

Society in in this modern day context has the power because democracy gave them that , the slave trade remained until the most powerful and influencial people didn't want it .

I made the assumption that you'd understand that I meant majoirty in the context of democratic decision making.


I get what you're saying but it's still not right. It may happen and will continue to happen, but it's not right. "Majority Rule" is just another way of saying "Fuck the Minority" with a little tact.

b/c the moment you stop your kids from seeing something you have censored them and by keeping inappropriate material out of there hands you might have been doing a good thing, but it could easily fall into the “necessary evil” catalog for you

Absolutely. They're my children. It's my job to do such things.

Problem is, we're not talking about children here. We're talking about fully functional adults being deprived of something they have every right to enjoy.

If i was an aussie, i would be well pissed.

I don't think violent games make non-violent people violent. I think violent games facilitate violence in mentaly unblanced people.

Walking down the street or owning a dog can do the same thing.

Remember that key word:

Unbalanced.

No matter how hard we try, we haven't found a way to ban crazy.

How is the system broken? Because some parents buy these games for their children?

Again, it boils down to the simple fact that any time you're trying to do something for the "greater good", you're taking away something from someone.

Ask yourself this: is it your right to do so? Who declared you judge and jury over what material adults can enjoy?

If that's the stance, I want an immediate ban on 95% of anime. I will provide a list. Most of it is inane, unintelligent, and convoluted. It sucks.

 I think censorship is good to an extent ( I don't want cars nerfed at 15Mph and everyone wearing bullet proof vest's) so in the censorship side of things I disagree with you.

 I do however believe that it's only being censored because it's the most convenient thing for them to do "Fuck the minority" as you said. If they could make billions of pounds from the minority then the situation would be entirley different.

Again, the problem with censorship is that someday, something you enjoy will get censored.

Chances are you won't like it. And by then, it's too late.

This "system" as you call it is an integral part of modern day society. In order to fix this system you wouldn't only have o create a super efficient system disbaling the kid's ability to expose themselves to this material , the system would require a complete overhaul.

If it's not San Andreas then it's Rambo , if it's not Rambo then it's MTV , if MTV fails at curropting impresionable kid's, other kid''s will do the trick.

It's not a problem in the games industry , it's not the entertainment industry even , it's society as a whole.
