Not for other forms of media. If a reviewer gives a movie 3/5 it's good or at least pretty good. The same score for a game is considered trash. A rating system is different than a school grade. A 5/10 or 2.5/5 is in the middle of horrible and amazing thus ok. Why would there be 6 numbers to describe bad, 2 to describe ok, and 2 for good. It's not 1 bad, 2 bad, 3 bad, 4 bad, 5 bad, 6 bad, 7 below average, 8 kinda good, 9 very good, 10 perfect its stupid because a lot of reviewers use a star system with 5 stars. When they give a game 3 they mean pretty good then it gets translated on meta to a 6 and people think it's a bad score. I mean just go out and read a 3 star review or a 7/10 review. The reviewer usually likes the game but public always seam to think of them as bad scores.
Just go imdb and look at movie scores. A movie with a 7.5 is considered to be quite good not average. |
I agree there is a huge difference in a 5 Star or even 4 Star system then a 10 point scale. Rotten Tomatoes is also very different from Metacritic. Metacritic can be very misleading at times.
