Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The Xenoblade Chronicles Series Thread: Definitive Edition (All Spoilers in Tags)

My favourite part of Xenoblade was the Fallen Arm when the characters are reunifying and Shulk has that alone moment with Elly. It reminds me of the scene in Xenogears where Fei and Elly are on the floating piece of debris, and the scene in Skies of Arcadia when Vyse gets marooned on the island North of Nisan after the shipwreck, and Asia and Fina are working back toward him. Or on a darker note, Celis in Final Fantasy 6 Awakening on the island, and then her searching for friends: the first time the “Searching for Friends” music plays in Final Fantasy 6 is one of my favourite moments in a game.

FF6 is relevant to the discussion because both Soraya Saga and Tetsuya Takahashi were heavily involved in its development. Many people don’t know this, but this is the game where the birth of the first elements of the Xeno games took place. Magitek Armour and the Kingdom of Figaro, both heavily from the minds of the two (Rene and Roni, the Fatima dynastic founders, were based on Edgar and Sabin; to people only familiar with FF6, the names will be recognizable because they also the middle names of Edgar and Sabin.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

I've just seen this preview from a more guitar-based track in XC2. And I'm still hyped about the OST! 4 days to go

EDIT: Oh, well, I just can't embed the video, so I'll post the link to it:

Here you go, and I've added a live action musical soundtrack which will be in the collector's edition.

That live action music video....the whole tone just seems completely different from anything Xenoblade has done before.  And that music isn't even going to be part of the main game?

That music video is absolutely ridiculous and does not fit in with the tone of the game so far. Really don't understand this ...

Edit: I should add that I meant ridiculous in the fact that it is so strange. Not that it's a bad song or video or marketing It is ridiculously strange. Oops, bad wording.

"So far". That's the key sentence. It might fit it somehow.

Yeah but we pretty much already know the tone of the game. It's "different" and less catastrophic. It's a boys love tale with a happy go lucky feeling.

All advertisement is meant to be judged and show the tone of a game, so it would be in pretty poor choice if the game did a 180 in the middle and started to match the music video more (maybe releasing it after the game came out would make more sense?)

Edit: It is cool though how it's pretty much a Dead Can Dance song

No but I know what they're known for, I'm not that oblivious. Didn't one of the key creators say he wanted to focus less on humanities struggles and more on a simple story about the connection between the main characters? Because, if it's more like the other games, the marketing is not doing a good job of reflecting that...

probably because the marketing team knows how the last two games sold and that selling it as a anime-ish adventure game is more convenient than saying it's a deep game with an insane combat system...

Yeah I guess you could be right. I swear I heard somewhere that one of the creators or directors said he wanted to do something unlike the past two xenoblade games and do something simpler and more down to earth. Can't find it though! So I'll take your word for it.
