Just sold out at Amazon (directly) other Companys (who sold at Amazon) had the Box in stock.

This is all a superficial 'war' to entertain and generate traffic on forums. The Nov NPD winner could sell 100K more than the competition, yet worldwide Sony will be selling 2m, 3m, 4m more than its nearest competitor this month alone. It's a bizarre fallout from the online games media being dominated by US outlets. Back in the days of magazines we had no idea what NPD was. It's a similar situation now we get UK figures each Monday. It dominates headlines and forum chatter, yet Germany, France and any other number of markets are as big (or close to it) as the UK. Once you start grouping smaller European markets, the Middle East and what not, UK (and US) figures can be put into perspective.

No matter what happens Sony wins big in the only market that really counts. Planet Earth.

Not a good point at all. There's a difference between fluff like "5 Bajillion hours on xbox live!" which is used to hide sales.

And then the PR sony put out "We had the biggest Black Friday in PlayStation history. We sold more consoles than we ever have in our 22-year history, "

That is not PR to hide bad sales.

It's actually textbook  pr spin. They said the same thing the year before but ended up having the worst November  npd in years, down about 40% from 2015. If Microsoft would have came out and released a pr and said ' xb1x launch week was the best selling week for Xbox since xb1 launch' this would be pr spin no matter how true it is (is 100% true in the U.K.). Sonys statement makes it sound like it destroyed all the competition, without actually saying they did.

For the record cord I have no problem with them saying it, good for them. And I still expect them to win npd but I believe it will be close.

I’m not saying you’re wrong, and I see where you’re coming from, but there are a few things being neglected in this argument, as I see it:

1. How often does Sony parade being #1? Surprisingly infrequently. Idk about other people, but I’ve been quite surprised at how—EDIT: RARELY—Sony takes the chance to mention that they are not only #1 globally, but also specifically in the US. When was the last time they gave a comment on NPD? On the other hand, MS in the past has won a single NPD after a long series of losses, but takes the opportunity to announce being the “#1 console in America”.

2. See the last part of #1. If MS would have won this month/Black Friday, there’s no way they wouldn’t have blasted this from the rooftops by now. Yet we’ve heard nothing from them (unless I missed something from today).

3. Another possibility is that Sony and MS and Nintendo don’t actually know each other’s data yet. Not sure if that’s likely or not.

Yeah, when it comes down to it, the distance between the consoles is growing even farther apart regardless.

Hardly ever, which is why the PR surprised me.
