Yeah, he has 1 example of like 20 where a Nintendo system peaked in its 1st year and now assumes that it will carry over to Switch.

There is such a console? Which? Is it the WiiU?

In terms of shipments Wii U had its peak in its launch window but that doesnt tell the whole story since it was massively overshipped. In terms of actual sell through, 2014 was its peak.

3DS peaked in its first full year in terms of shipments as well, 13.95m then having a very small drop to 13.51m the next year. Thats such an insignificant drop that i just basically say it was flat YoY.

Looks like the Gamecube did as well.

Btw SMO made it into the yearly spot at #3

This is the first time a game has appeared above the psn 3 cards in the yearly for a long time

Didn’t the WiiU also peak in its first full year?

No in terms of sell through it peaked in 2014 (2nd full year)

mario kart 8, was on system that sold 14 million, last of us was on system that sold 90 million, huge difference, last of us, was a pack in game, mario kart was a stand alone game, mario kart 8 on switch is gonna outsell the the wiiu version, of course it counts, and mario kart is much much bigger then the last of us.

I agree that you can add MK8D to the list but you are still ignoring

Pokemon, has always sold over 15 million

Smash Bros, last 2 entries sold over 10 million

Animal Crossing, both handheld entries sold over 10 million

2D Mario, has sold over 20 million on 4 occasions, over 15 million on 6 occasions and over 10 million on 9 occasions

These 4 franchises are just as big or bigger than the 4 that you keep listing as all their big franchises.

ok so nintendo released 50% of there big franchises the first year, ill give you pokemon, and animal crossing, but i think any nintendo fan interested in mario, and smash would have a switch by now.

Do you think switch is in its peak year?

Its funny because he will use "shipment" to argue against you meanwhile he will use sell thru whenever its convient for him xD

we should only use official sell through from nintendo or shipment figures from nintendo. so GC, wiiu, and 3ds peaked there first year.

I know Gamestop online isn't a good indicator of sales trajectory... but right now, it is Playstation overdrive.
https://www.gamestop.com/browse?nav=28-xu0

It sold well, but now it's selling out rapidly (multiple SKU's sold out now), which means Friday-Sunday sales will mostly be for XB1 and Switch assuming their stock holds out.

Well, I have very little confidence that X1X will be a big mover at ~$500, but I can also find very little on X1S availability.

Ita funny. Your using that because it benifits your arguement. That said switch will be up YoY.
