With everyone so enthralled by the sales and the reviews of Mario Odyssey, I've decided to make a prediction. Maybe it's not as bold as I think it is, but hey.
I bet that Splatoon 2 will outsell Mario Odyssey lifetime. Both games are going to be massive, of course, but Nintendo is going to push Splatoon 2 much more than Mario, just because the game is one of the key elements to sell people into their online fees. Mario will sell very well too, but I don't see it being as prominent as Splatoon, specially in Japan (and we all know how well handhelds do there, plus Splatoon's success there).
Both will probably sell over 10m lifetime, and in the end I can see both having very similar sales, but I believe Splatoon will come out on top.
I don't know if I should use the 3D World vs Splatoon 1 comparaison with this. The Switch is going to sell way more than the WiiU, and Nintendo will want to push the online there way more than they did on the WiiU.
Someone bring back this thread if I forget about it, around the time when the Switch's successor comes around.
EDIT: When I say that the squid will beat the plumber, I mean in worldwide terms. When we combine the sales from all the regions, Splatoon 2 will be the bigger game.
