If you want to compare like with like, compare the PS4’s first full Q3 with the Switch’s first full Q3. Launch aligned makes no sense when the PS4 had a staggered release across NA, PAL, Asia, the rest of EMEA, Asia and Japan.

I don't think you realize how console sales work. Consoles sell better as time goes on. PS4 had years to build momentum.  Most of the time the launch year of a console is the worst selling until the successor is introduced.  Even if the Switch suddenly became the fastest selling console (beating the Wii) it would STILL not be shipping more than the PS4. So no, this is not crazy. It is very expected.

1. Consoles sell their best in their later years. 

2. That's why Switch's 1st year overtaking PS4's 1st is a high possibility, because the PS4 did not sell it's highest in it's first year.

3. Don't worry, the Switch's 1st year won't be it's highest selling year either.
