that is the only factor on how many they are gonna sell i think, think you can almost dump 10m more and they will still sell through over the holiday season

Ye, if we remove the extra holiday advantage by skipping ps4's first few months, they're very very close indeed. PS4 - 14.8m (April 2014 to March 2015) Switch - 14m Forecast (April 2017 to March 2018) Though I don't think Switch will accelerate as much as ps4 in it's later years. 2018 should be very strong for switch I don't know about 2019 onwards though. |
Just remember, three juggernaut franchises have yet to hit the Switch. Pokemon, Animal Crossing and Smash Bros. Animal Crossing and Smash for 2018, and probably Pokemon for 2019. We will probably be getting another Zelda and another Mario game too (Probably Odyssey 2 tbh)
2019 will be pretty strong for the Switch I think, especially since third parties are all jumping in now, rather than backing out.

Nintendo says it would make sure Switch's well-stocked in coming shopping season, with support from suppliers.

Crazy that it's actually achievable this time around, unlike with the WiiU where it missed even the reduced forecasts lol.
It's all due to 2 things: consistent game output and good marketing. If Nintendo keeps this up, Switch will be mad successful. It's a delicate thing and I hope they stick to it, unlike what they did with the WiiU.
Amazing how Switch will sell in one year what Wii U sold in 4 years - give or take a few million.

I'm not surprised but then again I believed that rumor that said Nintendo expected to ship 20m Switch units in its first year. I mean, people who were low-balling the Switch kept on judging it as a console but kept on forgetting that the handheld audience is also buying into it.
So this is how a well conceptualized and executed console sells. Good to see Nintendo didn't forget.
On another note, Nintendo will "lowball" forecasts so they have room to continually increase them. That'll make investors happy come every meeting.
Holiday will be interesting to see
Especially if retailers will have enough stock
