It's almost as if a 50% power difference matters, like it did so far this gen...

tbh the "main" differnce is the xbox one x uses higher quality textures.... that has nothing to do with the power of it.

It has to do with it haveing 12gb of ram, instead of the 9gb of the PS4pro.

To the uninformed all is power =]

Are we ready for the reversal of PS4X1 release?

Honestly, I think games look good enough on the original PS4 and XB1 anyway, anything extra is just a bonus for me, although saying that makes me seem like a hypocrit since I have a PS4 Pro too lol, although to be fair, my dad offered to buy my original PS4 for £150, so I got my Pro for only £170, about half price at the time, lol.

Well for most part X1 was good enough, but it was also undenaiable that PS4 version was better, now it will reverse. But to the majority of gamers the difference between X1X and X1 (highest gap between the 4) won't be noticeable during normal play, so I really fail to see the expectative of some xbox fans that X1X will sell good while costing a lot more.

I also bought PS4Pro thinking it would make enough difference, but I'm still uncertain, but at least I can keep one in the bedroom and also have a good VR use (that was also one of the main reason for sony to make it). Now only hoping they make more top not content or contract it... perhaps go full force on Kaz to improve how VR is used on GTS.

Profound is a bit much. That said, I should hope so. A year later, $100+ more, and l think 40% more ram?

The backlash will come when one of the games is so poorly optimized that it ISN'T better.

Well the issue will be if they focus to much on X1X and end up making a poor X1 version while the userbase on X1 will always be too much bigger.

It certainly looks much better to the naked eye than we saw early this gen when 720p-900p was unacceptable and trash compared to 1080p.

I'm glad they added an option to prioritize resolution or not. I hope more companies do that.

Its not the resolution.

Its the textures that are better, on certain elements, that the PS4 cant do because it has 9gb of ram, instead of 12gb.

Resolution wise, I still think the 720p-900p vs 1080p, is a bigger differnce than 1620p vs 1920p of this game.

Deminishing returns for resolutions are a real thing imo.

If this game didnt come with better textures, and just ran higher resolution, everyone would be going :

"thats it? it looks no differnt than the PS4pro".

It has 1gb more than the normal PS4.

It uses it for the OS and other non gameing related things that run in the background and take up memory on the normal PS4.

So as weird as it sounds, the PS4pro has 9gb of ram.

Im assumeing Sony knew memory would be a issue for it, and decided to do a band-aid fix cheapo solution.

Their thinking bang-for-buck, and profit on units.

They plan on competeing on price with the Xbox One X, by keeping a 100-150$ differnce between the two.

And honestly, I dont think most games will have as noticeable differnces as tomb raider + shadow of war, had.

So to the avg consumer that price differnce could well sway them in favor of a PS4pro.

You know that's not what we all mean here ... (we only care about what's used for gaming)

If we went by your logic then the original PS4 would've had 8.25GB of RAM since it had an extra 256MB of DDR3 RAM ...

Yeah but it had less than 8 gb dedicated to gameing.

PS4pro has more dedicated to gameing, than the normal PS4 or PS4slim, because of that extra 1gb.

Even if its a minor differnce.

Xbox One X doesnt hae 12 gb of ram for gaming either.

It has like 3gb to stuff running in the background.

So for gaming its probably like:

PS4pro = 6-7gb

Xox = 9gb

I heard digital foundry say that the pro only has 5.5gb of ram dedicated for gaming.... I can't remember what video it was on though. Something related to the Xbox one X.

8GB was exactly dedicated to the APU ...

Just as how there's an extra ARM processor in the PS4, doesn't mean we should include it in our calculations for consistency's sake ...

No game developer is ever going to touch that 1GB of DDR3 just as how no game developer is ever going to use the extra ARM processor in either PS4 units ...

Looking forward to seeing for myself in three weeks!
