Cellphones 12 10.62%

Tablets 0 0%

Laptops 1 0.88%

Home Consoles 20 17.70%

Hybrid Consoles 48 42.48%

Something New (I will discribe in a comment) 3 2.65%

VR will defnitely get some growth, but I doubt it will become really big.

The Switch will do well, but if it doesn't sell over 100 million, I don't think that Sony and Microfsoft will be convinced to make their own handheld.

Phones will always be very popular, but I think it will take a long time until it starts getting AAA games.

Mobile. By a large mile. Like it is now. Get used to loot boxes. I love them because it pisses so many people off.

I say Home console and smartphone.
With home console that can count on backward compatibility in future i'd imagine a decrease in pc market. (Sony and Microsoft are porting all the games they can on PS4 and X1). Home console will be set top box with the best games on, and a gamer will pick it up one for sure instead of a normal cheap set top box.
PC market is decreasing, apart gaming, and i can see it touching it's peak in 2 years regarding gaming, but then, with console that allow bc alongside new releases as well, i'd imagine a decrease.
Smartphone it's obviously the leader in handheld game and i can't see how a new handheld console could surpass it.

VR it's a crack, could be bigger, but how bigger? I don't think that will be so popular in the next 10 years.

Mobile..... Unfortunately.

VR as is, is going nowhere. 'Nobody' cares really. There'll need to a major innovation for it to take off, the removal of the brick on your head some way for example. I don't know what the "bright future" will be, but I'm afraid the future will become increasingly mobile, and there will be pushes towards it becoming subscription-based services.

can someone explain to me why people say VR ?

ill say switch is on the right track it can be almost everything from a console hybrid to a laptop and yes even as a VR headset in the near future lol

I think it is a bit unusual people would say VR, it has come and gone multiple times.

And now, with billions of $$$ invested in it yet again, it still has not grown more than a fraction of the size of the Wii U user base (which so many people declaired very very dead...)

Maybe it has potential, but given how much time, research, and money has been thrown at it over the past 30 years, why hasn't that potential come to fruition yet???

Game streaming is another one. We saw both Onlive and GaiKai flounder and then get bought out by Sony, and now Sony has actually been downsizing how many devices they support with PS Now on rather than expanding. I don't know if anyone besides Sony is much of a presence in this space either. It just seems to indicate contraction of that market sector for the forseeable future.

It kind of reminds me of the 3D TV hype companies poured money and marketing into self-proclaiming the next big thing and then it just fizzled...

It will be interesting to see how it all plays out, and yes I agree with you, the Hybrid console actually brought me back to buying and playing games after having given up on where everything else was headed.

XR can be used to help augment workers vision, allowing for more efficient worklflows.
XR allows us to do some neat tricks like foveated rendering, which may help XR surpass the peak graphical limits of 2D displays.
XR has a value greater than 3D, reaching out with your hands is, by far better than anything 3D ever did.

These are just a few reasons why some people here are likely putting VR as their pick.
