There is already a sequel to Luigi's Mansion.  It is Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon for the 3DS.

Whatever the reason may be, I'm just happy to get to play Luigi's Mansion on the Switch even if they remake the other two as I have never played the first and haven't finished Dark Moon on the 3DS. If they plan to release a new one, the better.
