How fast can a thread be killed?
How does competition work on VGC?

I want to find out.

Here are 8k screenshots from Breath of the Wild.
I had to endure 10FPS gameplay to get them, so hopefully you enjoy the results.

The screenshot were taken with a system using the following:
Ryzen R7 1700 @ 3.9GHz
GTX 1080Ti

For more details on BotW emulation take a look at my other thread:

From a practical point of view there is no real point to this. I mean you had to endure playing at 10fps for nothing since you couldn't ACTUALLY enjoy the game at 8K...

And before anyone asks the obvious question, here is the answer: He can't cause there are no 8K screens on the market yet.

Enjoyable, no it gave me a headache.
The engine rendered the frame at 8k, and I did get a visible advantage from doing so (though nothing worth what I had to go through).

But it sure was a good excuse to have a dog chasing its own tail in this thread.
I think the phrase served its purpose.

You've denied the phrase of its meaning, that can't be!

I won't be mildly impressed until some 16K ones. Peasant.

Have you seen my 32k screenshot thread?

SHOW IT IN 87K!!!!!!!

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

SIde note:
It is way too hard to find Mario dropping Yoshi into a pit.
Almost like Nintendo are trying to cover something up.
If anyone can find a better gif, please do post it.

Surprisingly, they all pretty much look the same through my 720p laptop screen.

Edit: the improvements I would really want from BoTW are not really fixable by way of resolution bump. Sure 4k downsampling is very decent AA, but I want better draw distance (over the Switch version that is), higher res textures, better and more frequent bump mapping (especially in rocky areas or transitional areas between grass and rock) and better geometry/higher poly count. Also better lighting in some situations and more, as well as more varied foliage.

I love the aesthetic of the game and would not want it touched, but in a perfect world it would look like that first E3 trailer that we saw. It's still a beautiful game but that trailer leaves me wanting more.

You'd only get all that with a remaster of BoTW, which won't be coming until the next two generations of Nintendo consoles, I think.

Or until some fan mods in better textures.
Well even then, said fan could do a poor job.

Oh, okay then.
I guess my entire life is a lie.
...
Wait just a moment...

True. But these custom model swaps are pretty hilarious.

I found the pics to be terribly bland and boring, no where near impressive to deserve High pixel count... simplistic models, textures, too much light...

About competing with oneself... the guy is right, the secret for a company to not become obsolete and killed by the competitor innovation is for the company itself to look for the innovation and kill itself while becoming a new one.
