Are you joking? Really?

First of all, I would have preferred your own argument. Second of all, the "bearded guy" - the completionist. He pretty much has a vendetta against Dark Souls. not joking. This guy is a "completionist". He plays some of the toughest games out there, a lot of them retro. But he can't stand ... Dark Souls? Really? Either he's not a completionist, or he just sucks. And this is coming from a fan. He's even said he never wanted to play the game because he got so many requests from it. He's been a contrarian on the game forever, honestly. I remember seeing his Dark Souls vid when it first came out.

"You don't know where you're going" - Really? I never got this complaint. The one area you're supposed to go in for Dark Souls to progress is literally the most obvious area to go in - the area right in front of you! Once you're dropped at Firelink Shrine it should be obvious as hell where you're supposed to go, especially given the difficult and symbolism of the other areas. You'd essentially have to cut out all the other areas too make it anymore obvious, which would ruin the shortcuts and open world nature of the game.

"The most important item in the game is obscure. You cant even find it! I'm of course talking about the iron ring"

..... BAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA. Oh.My.God. This is the video you want to use to represent your points? Holy shit! The iron ring is the most important item in Dark Souls!

By the way, this comes from a guy who loves games with cryptic messages and who can't get through a game without a guide. So even if this was true(it isn't), it would be hypocritical.

The items don't  lie to you, that was one item that was mistranslated. I'm pretty sure that became a legit item in 3? I'm used to using that item honestly.

It's not that hard to progress in Dark Souls , holy fuck.

Gotta be honest, his criticism of it being like Ocarina of Time from a combat standpoint shows the arrogance. Ocarina of time doesn't allow you to do cool things, like exploit the enemy or learn super cool items or magic spells to fight(there are spells but it's kind of hard to use them in a fight). Ocarina of time is restrictive to just Z-targeting, Dark Souls actually encourages you don't in several moments. Even that has nothing to do with fairness though, just personal taste.

Goodnightmoon, do you have any real points about Dark Souls? Have you actually played it?

Yes I completed it 2-3 years ago, I see all those points valid since I suffered them too while playing it, I really felt the game was quite unfair with the player

Fair enough I guess there's no point in arguing over it, since everybody by now has their own set opinion on Dark Souls, which can be quite divisve. I just thought those arguments were terrible(I actually wrote a comment on that video 2 years ago, which showed up on the top of the youtube page for me, lol!)

I do think its a pretty good game despite that, I just think its fans overlook all its flaws, challenging but fair is one of the things I hear the most aobut DS and I really don't think its true, but yeah its a matter of opinion,.

I mean, I wouldn't say I overlook it's flaws. There's 4 parts in DS that could be considered completely unfair, and most of the fanbase agrees on those parts. But yeah, whatevs.

I've recently ran through Bloodborne with a friend and we're going deep into the chalice dungeons now. It's so fucking FUN!

Did Demon's Souls back when it came out with my girlfriend. Took a few attempts, but after we did the platinum we just replayed the thing for shits and giggles...and for the Blueblood Sword which is absolutely STUPID OP on a Luck Builds.

Did Dark Souls 1 with the girlfriend and we loved every moment of it, even if it was getting tough at times. The archers were a pain in the ass, but nothing we couldn't push through after getting the timing down.

I started working a pretty stressful job so never got around to playing Dark Souls 2 and 3, but she did. Among the cursing against the devs I don't think I've ever heard her whine about the game being unfair. "BULLSHIT! I DODGED THAT YOU MOTHERFUCKER!" I don't think counts against my point.

I think the Souls games got the balance just right between difficulty and fairness...and that's why we have 5 of them so far, plus a fuckton of DLC for them. The games punish mistakes and reward exploration, slow progress, taking in the view and trying things your own way at times.
To say they're not hard, though, I believe it's just a cry for attention towards your special little enlightened snowflake self. They are difficult and built TO BE difficult, but can be overcome with patience and a bit of LEARNING FROM YOUR MISTAKES!
With a friend...well, the games just devolve into stupid.

Me, or the creator of the video? Because I think they are hard(or at least meant to be kind of)

Dark Souls is a fair kind of difficulty when you take into account that the game relies on its community, and not accidentally, either. From the messages you can leave to the summons signs on the ground, Dark Souls is built on a communal aspect.

The problem is toxic "git gud play solo INVASION" users who insist everyone play their way. Don't play their way. Grab a friend and follow the signs.

More rather those that flock the forums with the "Git Gud!" remarks.

Dark souls is hard but fair (except for the rerelease of dark souls 2 on next gen). Bloodborne is harder especially at the beginning but is also fair (even the cursed chalice dungeons are fair, but the boss fights are very hard though). The point with Dark Souls is that everyone can learn and master it enough to complete it. While other games are sometimes unfair and because of that way harder than they should be. While they would be easier than Dark Souls if it hadn't some ridiculous unnecessary difficult parts.

Most games on crushing are way harder than souls games. Take Uncharted and Uncharted 4 crushing that sucks balls. I still hate that flooded basement in the first Uncharted game. Or the elevator scene with the shotgun in Uncharted 2.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

A souls game is hard the first time you play it as it doesn't explain anything. I didn't even know you could jump until 30 hours in, after restarting my first 20 hour attempt as I had leveled all the wrong stats and was pretty much stuck by lack of any explanation.

Now if you read a guide first, the game suddenly becomes very easy. You still need plenty patience though. (Shoot dragon tail 100 times from a safe position and other nonsense like that)

There's an "explain" button when levelling ... and it does teach you how to jump ...

Did they add that later, I never saw an explain button, nor did it ever tell me how to jump. It happened by accident a couple times and then I started experimenting to figure out how to reproduce it. I remember it well, no clue how to get magic working in my first attempt at the game.

Dark souls was a lot of fun in the end, so the frustration was worth it. However I still haven't started Bloodborne. Kinda had enough of the series after DS2. I don't mind the dying, I do mind reload times. If it would reset instantly I would play it. Why does it need to reload the level anyway, just reset the enemies.

Nope, it's always been there

I honestly can't remember if there was a note that taught you to jump, but i'm almost 99% certain. I also can't remember if the jump was required. Now that I figured out how to use an Xbox One controller, i'll probably replay Dark Souls on PC sometime.
