Well, this deal is nowhere near as bad as Rise of the Tomb Raider's deal.

Annnnndddd now I remember why I don't feel bad for you.

I disagree. Yeah PS owners had to wait a while to play the game but they got a complete edition with way more content than Xbone/PC users got and a cheaper price. Furthermore, deals like the TR deal are pretty common in the industry. Situations like the Destiny content is very much not a normal thing. And idk why you would feel bad about anyone in the first place. I made a purchase with my wallet and got burned, it happens.

The Boycotting bunch is so minuscule that Bungie and Activision must LOL so hard when they read these type of comments.

I never thought some skin would be a deal breaker, boy was i wrong!

Boycott is a strong word no one here has used, no need to be so dramatic, unless your point is lacking in substance :)

And it was quite a bit more than skins. In the expansions even story missions were locked away.

"Like I said in one of the recent "shit on MS" threads, this is imho the shadiest DLC deal ever and the main reason why even though Destiny 2 apparently fixes pretty much all my complaints from the first one, I will never buy it."

Yeah. Im being Dramatic.

Exclusive dlc content really needs to stop. If anything it makes me less inclined to buy it, rather than go out of my way to obtain it.

Yes, by calling a simple purchase decision a boycott. Also by downplaying the content that was locked out as "skins" even though you've already been corrected in another thread :)

That just sucks really. Destiny 2 is already out, so it's basically pointless to go back to the previous game. This crappy practice just left a portion of the community out of a part of a game. That's just awful.

Just so people are aware, PS4 version had Strikes, Maps, weapons, and some cosmetic stuff that was only on PS4 for the longest time. It wasn't just "some skins" and considering how barebones Destiny was, that loss of content was even worse for Xbox players :P.

Microsoft took the usual opportunistic approach and condemned this practice, probably because they have a much smaller userbase. It's not as if MS are short of cash, right? It seems to be mentioned a hell of a lot by their fans. So, when MS then go and do exactly the same thing, those who have followed the PR stunts by MS see their hypocrisy, which is why they get called out on it. It's a completely different conversation, conflated by those who can't accept the obvious to avoid facing the truth. One conversation is about the practice itself and the other is about the hypocrisy of calling foul and then implementing exactly the same tactic.

Only someone deliberately ignoring this would miss the difference.

So Sony is better because they never condemned timed exclusives?

"We're Sony. We do horrible things to games, but we never said we wouldn't. So really it's everyone else's fault for thinking we aren't terrible people."

It's not about better or worse, it's about two separate conversations, one of hypocricy and one of the practive itself. When MS was doing this all the time last generation and monopolising as many games as they could, I can't remember a single XB owner condemning it. In fact I recall most XB1 owners 'laughing' about the fact they got maps for COD before Sony fans. When Sony got that deal, suddenly it became a 'bad practice'. What this is is the fans mirroring the general mindset of the company they follow, demonstrating the exact same hypocricy.

Having a thinner wallet (way thinner) has made Xbox turn into a sheep from being a wolf last gen.

Did people forget about Bioshock, Mass Effect, Dead Rising, Splinter Cell, etc?

Those were FULL games that were Moneyhatted by MS. Where was the political correctness back then?

It also happened with DLC. Tons of DLC.

How can someone say that is worse holding a shitty DLC than an entire game like PUBG?

P.D. Im not defending Sony, im just pointing out the hypocricy of some.

Having a different opinion about shitty DLC shenanigans doesn't make someone a hypocrite, lol.

You think it's worse to buy timed exclusive rights to a game. That's fine. Others think holding pieces of a game hostage from user bases and still charging them full price is worse. Just a disagreement, no need to try and make it any more complicated than that.

Papa Phil said he's against stuff like Destiny. I'm still trying to wrap my head around how in the world PUBG applies here.

I found it funny how he's basically tagging me, without actually including my name specifically. I'm not "boycotting" it, I'm just not buying into a shitty business decision, pure and simple, if he wants to ridicule people and call them idiots (because he may as well as he's already heading down that road), then he can go for it, but he won't earn respect from me.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
