Pretty simple.  Will the ps4 slim And/or ps4 pro get a price cut in Japan between now and the rest of 2017? 

 

I think it will.  

 

I'll go for a $50 cut to both slim and pro.

Difficult to say. I would say no. Any price cut to the PS4 would apply worldwide. However, I can see the Pro getting a $50 price cut.

They just announced a MH World Pro bundle for the price of a current PS4 Pro for release in December.

JPN aint getting a price cut at least a month or 2 after that.

Also, I was expecting it at TGS, but that didn't happen. Could still happen.

They just announced a MH World Pro bundle for the price of a current PS4 Pro for release in January.

JPN aint getting a price cut at least a month or 2 after that. 

My reasoning was if they were selling the Pro limited edition + MHW for roughly the current pro price then surely the base pro model would have a cut. 

 

Maybe not.  Maybe they'll take all the extra revenue from holiday sales,  and MHW in January before announced a cut next spring to keep sales healthy throughout the summer.

With no price cuts announced so far, so I don't think we will see any this year. Probably just going to see the $199.99 holiday special on Slim, and maybe a $299.99 deal on the Pro, with prices returing to $299.99 and $399.99 post holiday.

I can see that. But the MH Bundle being the price of a Pro is what gives the bundle even more value. Not cutting the price of other devices keeps that bundle in teh spotlight, and therfore keeps MH in the spotlight. Yeah they could cut the price but its about placing extra value and attention on these holiday bundles (also stuff like FIFA, Destiny etc).

I do think a price cut in Spring makes a lot of sense and will definitely keep momentum going into Summer. Especially if the price cut can come with something like GoW or Spiderman etc.

We've seen in the past a limited edition ps4 + game cost quite a bit more. But maybe in this case they just decided to be generous.  After all they probably have a handsome margin on the Pro already. 

 

I'm caught between 2 minds.  On 1 hand they could easily afford a $50 cut to both models.  it would drive big sales in December and January in preparation for MHW. 

 

On the other hand though the ps4 between now and next summer has an extremely strong line up WW. So at the current high price they would still sell a shit ton.  Sony might not want to lose that revenue.  And then when the summer comes they can cut the price then.

I sure hope so. I gave up my Pro pre-order on launch day ( life got in the way ) and have since been waiting for a price cut. Might as well keep waiting it out now.

You could be on the money with that last part. Maybe Sony dont think they extra sales will cover the loss in revenue.

They would need about 14k extra sales per 100k units sold (this is just an example) to make up the $50 loss and perhaps they dont see that happening (with X1 and first Switch holiday season) And with the bundles, they are most likely taking a hit on profit since its not their game they are bundling.

So maybe. But yeah, a $50 cut would be good yeah.

That's a very valid point.  I guess we'll just have to wait and see what they do
