Forums - Sales - Project Cars 2 Sales down 72% on PC1 (UK)

I got burned on the first one with the lousy controller support. Reviews of PC2 did not convince me controller support has now been taken seriously. Sure it's not as bad, but when reviews merely call it 'playable' that's not much of an endorsement.

I would have still gotten it if it had PSVR support, but atm GT Sport is a day 1 purchase, PC2 maybe in a sale next year.

Project CARS 2 actually is a real improvement in almost every aspect and does nothing worse than the first one. I actually reviewed it and still have to add a multiplayer rating.

Saleswise it has a ton of problems though:
1. Project CARS disappointed on consoles in many ways. Ad in the time Slightly Mad needed to get it patched into a good game.
2. Neither the publicity of crowdfunding the first one had nor the Nintendo hype nor anything else of the PR that Project CARS had.
3. There are other racing games on the market as well as coming within the next weeks. Forza 7 and GT Sport might be the big guns, but there's Dirt and WRC as well as Assetto Corsa or, actually, Project CARS.
4. Most people play racing games with a controller, the first one had a really shitty preset and was far from a Forza or GT with controller even with the best possible settings. Project CARS 2 is way better playable with standard controller though, even if Forza and GT are still ahead here.
5. it's not the friendliest game if playing online. The host can force things like manual transmission, no traction control and way more.

Benefits are do your career as you want, with realistic settings or short and rulefree races, nice weather simulations for all seasons and a great list of racing tracks.

Well i will also buy GT Sport, maybe i will buy Project Cars 2 when its on sale for like 20 Euro, but since i finally get my Racing Game focused on Online i will most likely be playing GT Sports for a long time and i wont need anything else really. I know im in the minority, but i love that GT Sport is almost like an Online-only Game, the beta was already awesome. Finally i can play the shit out of Online in a Real/Simulation-Racinggame like Gran turismo, because they actually developed what it seems like a really good onlinesystem.

It seems like most people dont like that, but i love it. All the time in F1 Games, Driveclub or Project Cars, online was meh because there wasnt a good system and not focused on Online. thankfully GT Sports will.

Still as a big Racingfan sad to see this, but it makes sense.

Well PC didn't really set me on fire so I didn't even looked for launch of PC2... will get GT Sport instead.

Does anyone here really think the miss of PC on WiiU had anything to do with the sales of PC2?

Do you seriously think a few people might think that's the case?

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

You can never know, there are crazy people out there that would even claim this as karma

I don't think it has much to do with PC2, rather the publicity they managed to milk with the supposed Wii U version has a lot to do with the bar set by PC1.

Nah, but I'm pretty convinced the first game took advantage of the Nintendo fandom to hype the game. All things considered, I hope it ended selling the closest to zero as possible.

I didn't believe the WiiU hype and their Bull shots, but I still gave it a shot when it was less than 20 bucks, played a lot and doesn't feel bad for the purchase... but I can't deny they overpromissed a lot and that totally didn't make me want to go for PC2.

That I would agree, and although I don't cheer for anyone failure, I also can't be bothered to cheer for this game high sales.
