I just realized that a lot of the old Bugs Bunny cartoons are pretty much torture porn.

Watch out you might start sympathising for Mexicans if you start watching Speedy Gonzales again.

Speedy Gonzales is really popular in Mexico.

You missed Sym-Bionic Titan!

Is it a solid show? I've never watched it before

Its made by the guy who makes Samurai Jack... can never spell his name... But yeah! Its essentially a parody of Japanese Kaiju and giant robot anime. It only had 1 season in 2010 though

Japanese, haven't really watched American cartoons since I was a kid. Avatar the Last Airbender is pretty cool though.

Courage the cowardly dog owns all the cartoons in the world. I'm actually glad it ended before they mess it up.

I like anime so Japanese all the way. It's better quality and there's a wide variety of it. American just seems really cheap and the writing is done by potheads or someone on some serious drugs.

American cartoons and anime used to go toe to toe for a while, perhaps they were even better at some point. Not anymore imo, then again, the anime industry has been going downhill for many years already. Nowadays there are at most 2 decent shows every year

Anime > everything else imo.

Anime holds more interest to me...and I'm not just saying that because I'm the head of the thread here.

I enjoyed western cartoons a lot more when I was younger...but they don't as hold much appeal to me anymore. Seems like a vast majority of them are targeting a demographic I'm no longer a part of, or just don't stray much farther than gag comedy. Anime isn't completely immune to this, but I find that there's much more in the way of genre blending, and there's a much wider range of content to choose from.

Of course there are exceptions for everything...and I'm mostly basing this on what seems to be popular nowadays.

I've been more of an anime guy as of lately, but Western cartoons are still just as good.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Anime and manga for me, but there are plenty of good cartoons.

Anyway, it just bothers me that most of the times cartoons are just meant to be funny, on that front I apreciate the huge amount of themes anime has to offer
