Rough translation of the interview:

Yoshinori Kitase: "I'll like the people of today's generation to taste the "shock" that was tasted then. So, "Final Fantasy VII Remake" produced this time is not made by tracing "FFVII" 20 years ago, but by generously introducing the latest technology exceeding the latest Final Fantasy series "Final Fantasy XV", I want to deliver a new shock"

This makes me happy that this is possible with unreal engine 4 because FF7 is a HUGE game, it's a big big game. bigly. We got Midgar City, airship traveling, we get to go on the sea, under the sea, we go into space, over and into five mountains, tundras, deserts and over 50 different locations, plus we got 13 different summons. Think about that, the luminous engine in FFXV could barely get together Leviathan, it was just a terrible engine.

Well, I would be very happy with they just making the graphics current and not touching the rest =]

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

Sounds good. Hope I'm alive in 2022 to see it.

Unreal Engine 4 is cancerous in terms of optimizations ...

I expect low framerates unless anybody has a high end Nvidia video card ...

Also if they really wanted 'the technology of FFVIIR to surpass FFXV' why don't they make it a Windows 10 exclusive and make DX12 a hard requirement too while their at it ...

Well, it makes sense that a game released in 2030 would have better technology than one released in 2016.

I hope they scrap the Episodic release rubbish.

Of course it will, because it will also be on PS5

I didn't even think of that comment right now. Perhaps SE is improving with dates? Otherwise each thread about an SE game would open with "hurr durr, 2027".

Hey, hurry up. North Korea's getting kinda feisty. I want to be alive when I at least play the first part.
