So, GTAV was 3rd last month and is 2nd this month. I cannot fathom how many units this game is selling as it is a $30.

And yeah, Lost Legacy did great all things considered - $40 / season pass.

Posting NPD numbers is a significant risk for them. So I don't see what the issue is with them taking things personally. Whatever their reasons for posting numbers, they are putting their necks on the line and people should be cogniscent of that fact.

Every month the Switch wins no.1 is another month that developers will start to internally green light more Switch content.

Like for example ... GTAV on Switch ... it has to have crossed Rockstar's mind by now.

Zelda: BotW is also the definite killer app for the Switch in North America, no doubts about it. Whereas in Europe and Japan it's lower on the charts in the US, it's still hanging up with the big boys. Japan is all about Splatoon. ARMS and 1,2 Switch have fallen off completely in the US. Mario Kart is gonna Mario Kart.

Not to mention posting on gaf wasn't an issue cause it was a personal thing.  It is known as a stone cold fact that NPD regularly monitors that site for the express purpose of catching leakers.  Posting leaked numbers there is astoundingly stupid.  

Congrats to Nintendo for Switch's victory! I like to see Zelda still in the top 5.

But do you see how stupid that is? Like if they want to post npd numbers, leak it out to some friend thats not even in the same country via whatsapp or something and have them post it if they don't want their jobs to be at stake. 

This is even worse..... this is the internet for crying out loud. If NPD is actively looking for leaks, is VGC the best place to post said leaks and somehow next expect attention?

Do you think everyone that vists the NPD thread on VGC knows for certain not to take those numbers,  copy and paste them on some website somehere? I mean.... who really has ever succeded in controlling the internet.

Pretty much everyone on Gaf is aware of the NPD monitoring.  And yes, you can get caught anywhere on the internet.  But this is honestly a pretty small community.  NPD does not monitor the whole internet, just specific sites.  Like NeoGaf.

And btw, calling people trying to leak numbers so that sites and communities have real data idiots, drama queens, narcisists, liars, and all manner of other insults (and I saw every damn one of those last month) is insufferable, pathetic, immature behavior.  And taking those numbers and posting them on a site KNOWN to be monitored especially when they expressly warned you not to is just an asshole move.  And saying they should expect people to be assholes doesn't make their asshole behavior any less condemnable.

1. They could be doing that. We don't know if the person that is leaking the numbers truly has direct access or is being used as an intermediary.

2. The leaker specifically said don't take these numbers and post them directly to NeoGAF. So anyone that did so was just being a dick.

Yes people on the internet are pricks. Instead focusing on the people that are taking the risk to post NPD numbers, we should focus our disdain on the assholes that help get the leakers exposed. The internet didn't used to be full jerks. People used to be called out or even shunned for bad behavior. Maybe if that were still the case, there would less jerks around. Sure there is always going to be that one guy/girl. However letting people slide just encourages more people to be inconsiderate douchebags.
