Was wondering how the graphics were such a step up.

I don't strictly agree. Since the more pixels the better.
But there are parts of the sentiment that I agree with. Galaxy, Skyward Sword, Brawl, Other M. These games hold up pretty well alongside X360 and PS3 contemporaries IMO.

I was just having some fun.
Though, I guess it is kind of true; HD is not enough, it is overrated.
Unless you are purposely designing for a low resolution then UHD+ will always be better.
Mario + Rabbids is impressive visually, but when comparing it to Odyssey one should really consider how different the two genres are. Few games are better suited for high fidelity graphics than those that are tightly pathed and feature frequently fixed cameras (which caused me some of my only frustration with the game).
It's what allowed Super Mario 3D World and Captain Toad to look so gorgeous, whereas a more open world on the same hardware would have had to make additional sacrifices. Basically, Mario + Rabbids should compete visually with Odyssey, as Odyssey is a greater strain on the hardware.
Still, from what I've seen Odyssey may indeed wind up looking superior.

Definitely not from a technical perspective. The geometry, texture quality, image quality, particle effects, world density, etc are all much more detailed and higher quality in Odyssey than 3D World. Mario + Rabbids is a turn-based game which uses a third party engine. I don't see how it looks anything like 3D World or Oddysey. |
Totally agree, those screenshots really show a lot there. Makes me even more hyped for Odyssey and this thread isn't even about it! xD

I think it was Ubisoft Paris and Ubisoft Milan (together) working on this title. |
How are the Xcom games btw? Is the control scheme the same as Mario X Rabbids? Or is it some sort of mouse based controls ala the PS1 Tactics Ogre?
Ubisoft did an amazing job with this one, very close to Nintendo level of polish.
720p docked would be better sure but 600p with good antialiasing on a screen like that looks fantastic, any complain about that is just dumb tbh

The camera cound do with some reworking.
Too many times the camera lingered on an empty space for a whole combat scene.

That's why I said that, but its a pretty minor problem tbh

Fair, I just think they are a bit too far off to be called close.
Either way it is a good game.
