Nice thread! This is probably a stupid question, but why are the calendar and launch alignments on different weeks?

Because they start from the very first April for each system (as much as those dates could be aligned), so for the Switch there's a four five weeks difference between launch week and first week of April.

The switch should get ahead of the ps4 again during smash week. Great to see both of these consoles selling so well.

Possibly even next week already, though that's gonna be tough, 500K+ needed next week to pull that off.
