Yeah, but how many people would it put off the experience, I mean you gotta wonder how well the Switch could run VR,

It is litterally an AndroidCompat static boolean flag check within the Interfaces IPC for checking the mode state of a connected device. It is for communicating with an android device via the Nintendo Switch online android app, to check if said android device's SetVrModeenabled flag is true or false. I cannot make that any clearer to you. |
That dont relly changes nothing, again they several times said they are "looking at VR" and that they will be there when VR is ready, and this is from february:
Kimishima said Nintendo is “studying” the possibility of adding VR to the Switch, the company’s upcoming portable/docked hybrid console. “If we are able to resolve the issues with playing [VR] comfortably for long hours, we will support it in one form or another,” Kimishima told Nikkei.

I don't really take Nintendo's audience for visual fidelity aficionados. No problem there.
Switch VR is not going to ruin anyone's experience. Anyone who gives a shit about good VR has either already tried it or is not looking to Nintendo to provide for their first experience. If BOTW can get a 10/10 then Switch VR can certainly succeed.

But in general we do love a solid frame rate, and though visuals take a back seat (like WAY back) I wouldn't want evey game I own on a periferal to look meh. We love our eye candy too.
Nintendo will have VR ... Kimishima basically said they're just ironing out the comfort issues with it. It's gonna happen.

They just need to attach their initial releases to the right IPs and everyone will swoon over it as usual.

I actually do think Metroid Prime 4 might be a VR-optional title.
Runs in VR if you have the 1080p Switch that'll happen at some point, or regular mode for old Switches.
It just fits.

Unless it runs like ass. Even if at first they swoon, they'll jump ship shortly after.

Or it will forever lead all Top lists of the best video game experiences ever. In today's world both of those things are equally possible.
