Forums - General - Tropical storm Harvey devastating Texas. Houson experiencing extreme flooding. 47 confirmed dead

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/08/27/us/harvey-texas-storm.html?mcubz=1

The forecast continues to look bleak for Houston; with tropical storm Harvey expected to plough back into the city in the next couple of days, bringing even more rain into the severely flooded city. Millions are without power as rescuers desperately try to get people out of their flooded homes.

Praying for the people of Texas right now, and hopefully the communities affected by the storm can start to recover soon.

Edit: Casualties have risen from 5 to 22: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-nation/wp/2017/08/29/harvey-takes-aim-at-louisiana-as-trump-plans-to-survey-stricken-texas/?utm_term=.23e7ca6a26d9

Edit 2: CNN reporting that 24 have been killed by the storm.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

Houston, we have a problem

Seriously though, praying for the best for the people on the region.Having natural disaster like that must be horrible.

It always seems safe here in Arizona. Hoping for the best for our sister state and people's safety

I have a friend who evacuated a few days ago. Hope he's doing okay. :(

I can't imagine what these people must be going through. To get 20-30 inches of rain and then to hear how they may get 20+ more in the coming days must be horrible, even for those who've evacuated, just hearing the news and being unable to sleep at night, wondering how it's all gonna turn out.

I hope everybody gets the help they need, and people are able to recover quickly.

It is getting punched hard. Hopefully no one there goes outside.

Unfortunately though, there's homeless people, people that need to get groceries for food, first aid, etc. so it's not so simple.

I hope they make it through it without anymore deaths or much more damage. I really wish that people would design homes better for storms/flooding rather than go with the classic home.

$42 for bottled water in Texas. https://www.google.com/amp/www.foxnews.com/us/2017/08/26/hurricane-harvey-price-gouging-complaints-include-99-for-water.amp.html

I personally knew this storm was coming well over a week ago. Hopefully 99 percent were prepared. The rest I just hope they stay safe when going out.

How did you personally know? It would have been an estimation. Yeah, maybe they should have better prepared, but I don't think your wording was the best.
