Forums - Gaming - CryEngine 2 console visuals 'like high settings on PC'

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=186401

It's a well-known fact that Crytek is porting its CryEngine 2 tech that powered Crysis to console, but it's yet to confirm whether it's working on PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the PC FPS.

It MUST be happening though; and expect the visual quality of the first-person shooter on both consoles to be the equivalent of, or very close to, high graphics settings on Crysis on the PC. Well, that's the suggestion from Crytek engine business manager Harald Seeley, anyway.

"The surprising thing has been how well the consoles can perform visually, once this tailoring [tailoring the engine specifically to each platform] is in place. We expect the final outcome will result in games that look like they're running at high settings, or nearly high settings, on a PC", Seeley told IGN about the CryEngine 2 port to console.

He added that it's been more challenging porting CryEngine 2 to PS3 than Xbox 360, but said that Crytek believes it can get the most that's possible out of Sony's console.

"...therefore", he added confidently, "PS3 games which run on our engine in the future will definitely stand significantly apart from other games that don't."

They also have an inflated self of worth (and don't like the Wii).

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Both PS3 and 360 will seem very outdated in a couple of years time compared to PC's. I doubt that either console could make a version of Crysis that runs on high settings. medium settings to medium-high is probable. Very high settings no chance of that happening. PC's can not get Crysis to work on Very high settings.

So, it falls between high and medium (With a trend to high), but he doesn't say what resolution will be the final output, and the fps, so, I will wait... (Too much PR at this point)

By me:

They are bringing a engine to the Wii, but I didnt know about the ps3 and 360.

Hopefully they'll try to get some extra work out of the Cell in the PS3.
Even if the X360 and PS3 versions will be equal in graphics, I think that, if done right, the PS3 could still be closer to the physics beast we know as the CryEngine2

What resolutions? 720p? If so that is what many users on vgchartz have been saying it could do medium-high at 720p. What is the framerate? Oh , and will it be using DX10?
