If you didn't understand the hype of Xenoblade for Wii you obviously don't remember the state of jrpgs at the time, especially on Nintendo consoles.

As for X, you may find some things that disappointed you, but as a whole package was nowhere near a disappointing game.

Sure the game got huge hype, right before/after it was released in Japan, but before that it was just one of many prospective JRPGS. People were more hyped for The Last Story back in 08/09. The first trailer, which I embedded, certainly didn't help to highlight Xenoblade's best qualities either.

A little history lesson on why Operation Rainfall even began

"History

On June 23, 2011, Mathieu Minel, at the time the marketing manager of Nintendo France, said that Nintendo of Europe wished to display Xenoblade at E3 2011, but that Nintendo of America (NOA) denied them since they had no plans to localize the game. 11 days later, Minel had departed from Nintendo. As a response, numerous role-playing game fans from the IGN message boards started a campaign titled "Operation Rainfall" with the intention of pressuring or persuading NOA to release Xenoblade, as well as two other high-quality RPGs that were left out of E3, namely The Last Story and Pandora's Tower."

Essemtially the entire thing started because of Xenoblade (or Monodo).

Rainfall has nothing to do with his point as he's right I followed Xenodblade while it was still Monado from the first trailer, the very first trailer for Monado was back in 2009 and it didn't have any hype at that point it went under the radar and when the game was brought up by those who noticed it many people just brushed it aside. It's only when NOE began localizing it after the release in Japan where any hype began to build.

😕
I just can't feel it.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

I really think it looks good :) I mean this will be playable on the go...
I'm quite hyped by this game

It has everything. He (and you) are saying there was no hype for the first trailer, yet Operation Rainfall happened because the game wasn't getting localized.  That's a bit contradictory. If people didn't care, they wouldn't have got on board the way they have and it all kicked off with Xenoblade not getting localized. Hell it even made #1 best seller on amazon at one point without a localization date (Xenoblade Chronicles, not Pandora's Tower or The Last Story). That doesn't show "no interest".

Read what you're even posting the game was shown in 2009 localization started in 2011, rainfall happen because NOE localized the game and NOA refused to bring the game to NA even after it got critical praise all of this in 2011 not because of the first trailer back in 2009, the's no contradiction anywhere the first trailer was bareley even noticed back in 2009, everyone was focused on The Last Story because of Sakaguchi's involvement.

He's saying the first trailer didn't do much for the game and he's right your response is by using an event that has nothing to do in regards to the first trailer.

I don't see how. If no one cared then why would it be an issue if it weren't localized, and why did it become the cornerstone of Op Rainfall?

*Edit* I mean, so we're both clear, that everyone was like screw that game who cares. Then Nintendo said we aren't going to localize it and people were dying for it? That literally makes no sense.

My God!

By the time people started caring about it, it was long past its first trailer. FFS!

We're using our memory, and we all don't remember it the way you think you do.
